Roberta's Story

After two years in School-within-a-School at BHS, I graduated with "high" honors. Denver, Colorado was my home for four years of college, majoring in World Religion and Anthropology. I joined a Brookline family in Munich, Germany for 1977-78 as their nanny and was a member of an English speaking church. I returned to Brookline for my brother, Dennis' (BHS 1970) wedding to Diane Brassil (BHS 1971).. The next year I was a Kosher cook at Boston University and Tanglewood 1979. Loved those free shed tickets. I met Leonard Bernstein! A radical departure from fun and frolic around the globe, I went to graduate school 1979 in Ohio and got a Master's of Divinity. I have been in local church ministry in : Mansfield, Needham, Braintree, Watertown, & Sci...Expand for more
tuate, MA and now East Hartford, CT. Jared Goldstein said, "You followed in the family business". My father had been a Senior Pastor of The United Parish on Harvard St. for twelve years. I have traveled to Israel three times, Brazil and the Rain Forrest, many parts of the USA and Europe. I speak a smattering of German and Yiddish. I have been afforded the opportunity to study anti-semitism with women Rabbinical students. I have nothing but wonderful memories of Brookline and all the high energy people I met there. I have years of sermon illustrations, good Yiddish stories, and life long friends. I miss my friends, Bobby Sherman and Joanne Tyszkowski, but know that their suffering is over. I wish you reading this a long life and much happiness.
