Roberto Esparza Banda
Born in Asherton (Cheto), Texas on 8 June 1946
Played Basketball and Football.
Member of 1962 Regional Finalist 6-man Football Team.
Tri-Captain on 1964 8-man Football Team.
All-District Guard/Tackle on 1964 8-man Football Team
1965 graduate of Asherton High School
Service to our country with the U. S. Marine Corps, 1965-1970.
Service in Vietnam as a Combat Aircrewman in UH-34D Helicoptors and C-117D Flareships, 1968-1969.
Wounded on 17 April 1969.
Placed on U.S. Marine Corps Permanent Disability Retired List on 24 February 1970 with rank of Sgt, E-5.
Enrolled at Sul Ross State University in June 1970.
Bachelor of Arts with minor in Spanish, 1973.
Masters of Education with Mid-Management Certification, 1974.
Midland Independent School District 1974-1980: Elementary Language Arts and Social Studies Teacher in grades 4, 5, and 6.
1980-1989: Elementary School Principal.
1989-1997: Elementary School Principal and Director of Head Start Program for school district.
1997-2001: Parent Involvement Coordinator.
Retired from Midland ISD on January 31, 2001.

The Good Lord BLESSED my wife and me with three (3) children:
Son, Roberto Banda, Jr., a former U.S.Marine and now a Manager with Best Buy Stores in Midland, TX.
Son, Cesar Banda, a Marine General in his heart and now the owner of West Texas Collision Center in Midland, TX. Daughter, Juliana Maria Banda, works for her brother Cesar.
The Good Lord continued to bless the Banda Family with Grandchildren:
Granddaughters: Anissa Renae and Bianca.
Grandsons: Emeterio (Emet), Eli, Toribio (Toro) Xavier, Elias, and Roberto III
Daughter, Juliana (Hoolie) Maria Banda, a U. S. Navy Veteran and now studing to be a Medical Assistant.
