Hello Friends:
I have been living in Toronto for many years. I spent most of those years single, but I have been married for 9 years now. I never thought I would get married because I was independent and I also worked so hard that there was little time to socialize. I rarely dated, nobody asked (LOL). Oh, maybe I was just a late bloomer.
My husband and I live in South Etobicoke. We have four tuxedo cats and no children (since we got married later in life). Our cats are our children.
I had worked non-stop for 33 years, until very recently. The technology industry is harsh and fickled and I have been with several employers over the many years of my employment. I have, for the first time, taken time off. When a door closes, a window opens. I look forward to the mystery of my future. I hope it yields a job.
[Job Update: I am now entering the world of contracting, my first contract will be a 3 month role with my former organization, Update it turned into an 8 month gig}
I publish a community blog called "The Spirit of Lakeshore". It's a gentle publication designed to knit the community together house by house. It has a small readership, but even a readership of one is celebrated. My husband travels 50% of the time so I have time to create this blog as well as a website and blog for my family and friends.
Most of my family are still in Glengarry, with nieces and nephews in Montreal, Ottawa and Toronto. My nieces and nephews are all married so I have 17 "great" nieces and nephews-the numbers are growing. My mother passed away on September 8, 2007 at the age of 96 still with-it to the bitter end and my father passed away six years ago. I think my ...Expand for more
mother waited for all her grandchildren to be married before she decided to leave us. We own a country home in Lancaster, so are very proud Glengarrians when we can make our way to the East. Do you know how wonderful Glengarry is?
Did I ever get into theatre? No, I have never walked on a stage since my days at GDHS. Oddly, over the years I have become more reclusive. The only stage I perform on now is at my weekly Toastmaster's meetings (Table Topics). I prefer to write now. I believe the pen is mightier than the sword. I believe words can change the world, one heart at a time.
Have I kept in touch with anyone? Time has generously reintroduced a few special people from GDHS . I count these reunions as magnificent moments. I hope I can hear from you too.
Have I done anything interesting? Every day is interesting, but here are a few "different" passages of my life.
- I lived in England in 1975-1976. I really grew up during that year.
- I visited Egypt in 1997.
- In 1997, I worked at CTV and supported the National News with their on air production system.
-In 2000 I got married and moved to a community that resembles life in a 1950's TV show like "Father Knows Best", everyone knows everyone, everyone helps one another, everyone participates in community events. So Lucky.
- In 2007, my husband and I bought a home in Lancaster, Ontario. We enjoy this victorian farmhouse as much and we adore Glengarry.
- In 2008, we enjoyed the last transatlantic voyage of the QE2 and had a special reunion with a former GDHSer.
-2009, going to Singapore
It has taken time for me to learn what you may already know, "we are part of everyone we meet."
Peace.
May we meet again.
