Robin's Story
Life
Been working now onshore for few years as a environmental geologist (where does the time go?!). Before that, worked for few years as a geophysicist offshore, 6 weeks at a time with 6 week breaks. I spent much of the first years, barring time with friends and family, exploring the world. Before that job, I entertained myself in grad school (at Penn State as a geologist/geochemist) with field work in South Africa and Canada. My favorite field gear...a pair of hiking boots that have been on 6 continents, most recent courtesy of best friend's traditional wedding in India. Suspect the 7th might never be. rom Houston and am certain I'm much better for it...can't beat driving across the country for adventure though! Strangely ended up back where I started when I bought a house in Napa and now commute to job in Concord.
Highlights in last 10 years: being 14000 feet below surface in a South African Gold mine, driving jet boat in Norwegian fjord, whales swimming next to ship in Brazil, George St. in Newfoundland, living in England, Cafe Gourmet in State College, anywhere in Victoria, Australia, meeting my friends all over the world.
Lowlights: Congolese custom agents with machine guns, any Paris airport, Houston humidity, losing track of old friends.
