Robin's Story

Life Hello Folks! I hope everybody is doing well. I have been living in South Boardman, MI (Near Traverse City) with my husband, Bill and our thirteen-year-old son, Stephen and our four-year-old daughter Natalie. My husband and I own Northern Granite Inc. I graduated from the University of Phoenix on September 14, 2004. I have my Degree in Marketing and Business Administration. I am working on getting my first novel published and have started working on my second one. I am hoping to be able to write for a living and maybe one day I can say that I am an accomplished author. :) Life is good. Would love to hear from old classmates and friends. In August 2006, shortly after my daughter was born, I suffered an aortic dissection. Basically my left main artery tore away from my heart. I had a massive heart attack and had to have an emergency bypass. I was one of a small handful of people in the world to survive this. Because I am a jogger, non-smoker and basically a healthy person, I am doing fine now. I have minimal heart meds that I have to take as a precaution. And believe it or not I still average 2 - 6 miles a day jogging. Anybody that truly knows me, knows that I won't let anything like a stinking heart attack bring me down!! I basically used this as another life lesson. This also stregthens my belief that God does truly exist and is real! School I enjoyed my time in high school, especially Cheerleading. I really have no regrets from school except I wish I had gotten better grades in my freshman and sophomore years. Thos...Expand for more
e two years of goofing off really brought down the GPA! College I would like to forget my Freshman year of college and act as if my time at Adrian never existed. But unfortunately it won't go away. I did leave there with some lasting friendships and of course I learned some of life's biggest lessons in the short time I was there. I think anybody that I knew at Adrian, would be surprised to meet me now. I am a far stretch from the party girl I was there! From there I attended Specs Howard and thought I was going to become a tv news reporter. Once I became intuned to reality, I attended classes at Wayne State and at Henry Ford but dropped out shortly after my husband and I found out we were having a baby. I finally finished up at University of Phoenix which has been a Godsend to me. I don't think I would have ever completed my education without that opportunity. Workplace Bill and I moved our granite business to Northern Michigan and renamed in Northern Granite. We recently incorporated and are doing well. After a few employee glitches and some house cleaning, I think we are finally on the right track!! We have expanded and opened up a fabrication shop in South Boardman and I have moved my office from my home to the fab shop. At first I thought I would hate putting my daughter in day care, but I realize I get more done in the office than I do at home! My dream job is to stay at home and write novels. I am working on fulfilling that! Maybe once both kids are grown up and our company is more established I can make my dream a reality!
