Robin's Story

Life I, um, removed myself from U Lowell before I was asked to leave. Yes my average was that bad, basically because at some point I stopped attending class to attend parties. I went on a spring fling to Florida with Stephanie and Linda, and then dropped out. In Worcester, I met my now husband, Robert, and went on about the business of leaving yet another college and entering the work world. Working in a gas station for $5.00 per hour was not for me, so I ended up working for Paul Revere Ins., where I found I had a talent for numbers. I went to Nichols College, and graduated with honors and a 3.5 average. I then was in public accounting for 10 years, and then have been in Controllership jobs in the private sector for the past eight years. I have gotten bored with that career path, and am now working at becoming a dog trainer. I am married (14 years now/19 together), but have no children, as it happened that both my husband and I have never felt ready or willing to have children. We enjoy our two Dobermans and cat very much. I took up skiing 4 years ago, and now my husband and I go on two major ski trips a year, one to Stowe and one to Mt Washington. School I hated junior and high school. Most of the people there were jerks, and there were only a few people there that I could relate to. I was a band geek, of course. I had kept up with some friends until about seven or eight years ago. If you are one of the few that were normal, feel free to contact me. You know who you are (Julia, Stephanie, Lisa, Heidi, Beth, Karen, Denise, Janet et al). College Here are some memories I have of college: 1. The last time I drank a screwdriver, when Toby got sick in his bathroom on screwdrivers and plums. Yuckola. No more for me, thanks. 2. The time Linda had the sleeping problem during a party at Adam and Libby's apartment, and they put her in a rocking chair in the closet. She was not amused. 3. Frat party with Diana where I kept drinking the punch. Didn't know there was grain alcohol in there. Rest of the night, I can't remember, but how could you have left me there? 4. Driving out to the drive in with Mat, Libby, and Linda. Listening to Boston's new second albumn. 5. Mat's apartment was broken into, and his stereo was stolen. Dave insisted we go down and clean up the mess for him, although me and Mat weren't getting along at the time. My fault entirely. 6. Johnie Cameron sending LaTasha a dozen roses when she was leaving for Texas. 7. Telling Diana how to drive her car, and what spaces she could fit into, while I had no idea how to drive myself. 8. Hanging out in Adam and Libby's apartment with Mat and Dave during hurricane hugo. Playing frisbee outside during the storm. Dave asking "guest" to leave for me, who had brought a gun into the festivities. 9. Watching the band aid and live aid concerts in Adam and Libby's apartment with Mat, Dave, and Linda. 10. Spring break with Steph and Linda, and us saving Steph by being dragged out of a club against her will by some creepy guy. All the guys down there were creeps. 11. annis. 12. Weekend in Martha's Vineyard at Toby's house. 13. Weekend in Springfield at James's house. 14. Practical joke number one, where I found my underwear hanging all over Chris's apartment during a party. 15. Practical joke number two, I lost a bet with Keith, and the looser was to do their laundry. So instead of doing it, and it was ripe, I just let some of it tumble in the dryer with a softening sheet. 16. Practical joke number three, everyone knew I was afraid of thunder storms, so one night, about six guys were hiding in my tiny apartment. I never saw, heard, or found them for two hours, and then they couldn't take it and started popping out all over the place. Scared the crap out of me. Figured I was out of my league after that. 17. During pledge, Diana and I were selling "tuck in and kiss" packages where someone could buy for themselves or a friend, us to tuck them into bed, read them a story, and give a chaste kiss on the cheek. Well, we both thought Bob Carver was really hot, and no one had gotten one for him, so we bought ourselves, and told him it was an anonymous admirer. 18. A conversation in Allen & Danny's dorm room was recorded without our knowledge, and we were talking about who was cuter. Poor Danny heard us rate him as last, although that didn't mean we didn't love him. He was so sweet. I still have a card where he signed it Danny, last, dead last, in the gutter. 19. Bob Carver was my "big brother" freshman counselor, so the first day I meet him, he invites me to a party in the dorm room. This is where I met Steph and Kelley, I think. Any way, these guys thought they would get us hammered, and it was my first time drinking. Let me tell you, the girls were the only ones to walk away from that game of quarters. 20. Round Robin backrubs in the music lobby. 21. Carl, Randy and I bagging class for a McDonald's run. 22. Toby's smile and laugh. 23. Dave as romantic and fun, and always there as my friend. 24. Mat as sweet, broken hearted, and a new father. Beautiful classic guitar player. 25. Grace as fun and outgoing, and at times a little confused. 26. Johnie Cameron as a complicated one, but a very good friend. Workplace Up until a year ago, what I did, accounting controllership, was a big part of my life. At some point, I got burnt out and bored with that career path. Most likely because I was doing something I was good at, not something that I liked to do so much. I am now working on becoming a professional dog trainer, and luckily my husband's career is allowing me to go in that direction at this point. I'm looking to do something more meaningful, than make money for the few executives at a company. I have always loved animals, but thought the only way I could work with them was to become a veterinarian. One of my own dogs taught me about training, and how it can turn around a dog's life so he/she can stay with their family. I have been surprised that not one of my college friends has gone into the music industry. I remember a talented group of young people. I hope some are you are still at least playing, as I do, albeit badly.
