Robin's Story

Life I started a Powerlineman apprenticeship at 18 and earned a Journeyman Lineman certificate at age 22. I moved to BC at age 20. At that time(22 yrs old) I started my own Powerline contracting company and I have been doing that ever since. I work a lot, but you know the old saying, work hard, play hard. I love my wife, she is my best friend and we are together almost 24hrs a day. We love our 4 doberman dogs. Its a handful sometimes but they are our kids. Boating has become our most favorite activity to do in the summer. Everyone is happy and partying and drinking and laughing and drinking and its just plain fun! Believe it or not, I am often the designated driver and I dont touch a drop! Our life together is an adventure everyday as we dont have a regular set job and each job is different than the last one. Some are dangerous and some are not so dangerous. We are always on call 24/7 but thats the way self employment is I guess. Since I was a student who was forever getting suspended or spending time in the office, it only stands to reason that I would not take well to authority or boss types. Hence, I think I can only work for myself! Im sure most of teachers and students thought I might be the first one on my way to jail or in the gutters but I think I turned out ok! I have good morals and I am polite and nice. I can't even squash a spider in the house, I have to gently catch it and release it outside! After some of the stuff I did in high skool Im surprised myself on how Im doing so far! Its been 20 yrs now since high school. I wouldn't do anything different and I have no regrets, geez, it sounds like Im dying! No, Im not dying but I am getting older and a little bit wiser ass. We presently live on an acreage in Langley(Vancouver lower mainland). Everything that we need is c...Expand for more
lose by-mountains for snowmobiling and lakes for boating. we only go and freeze our asses off in the mountains once in a while, then we come home an hour away to thaw out. Its not really that bad but we do have the best of all seasons here. School Mr. Dafoe came up to the stage at the end of lunchtime to make sure everyone was going back to class. Mona and I were about to...........(use your imagination).........when he peeled back the big curtains. I dont think he saw anything cuz it was really dark and we were far back on the stage, at least he didnt say anything to make me think he saw! I did drive over Mr. Walkers lawn. Sorry Mr. Walker. Stewart drank sometimes during school hours but never told me. What a homo. Im losing my memory so Im sure a lot of my classmates are breathing a sigh of relief! Their secrets are only safe until I can remember them College No college edumacation. Worked and still working hard was how I learned. I was my own boss pretty young and no one showed me or told how to run a business. I had to figure it out on my own. I learned a lot and my college was college of Robin! Workplace You have to go read the life part of the bio, or else I can learn to post in the right places..............nah, go back to the life part and read for yerself! Military I didn't serve but I did go and do a recruiting test in Saskatoon. They said my test results revealed that I would be able to drive a tank. I wanted to fly the f16 fighter jet like top gun. I figured it was pretty well impossible to work my way up from a tank driver to a fighter pilot. I didn't sign up and then I decided to climb poles for a living and that was as high off the ground that I would get for a while. I salute all the brave men and women that serve and have served our country. Thank you.
