Robin (Anderson)'s Story

Life has been a wild ride! After high school I headed to junior college, work, and eventually graduating from Northern Illinois University with a BA in English. My family had the opportunity to relocate just north of Dallas in '88, so I came along for the ride. It must have clicked, because I've been here ever since. I received my certification to teach English/reading summer '90, and I began a new life teaching at North Garland H.S. in August. I changed schools (by choice) a couple of times. Lakeview Centennial and Nimitz H.S. were next. While at Nimitz I received my M.Ed. in Secondary Ed/Reading. I regressed and have been in middle school since '99, and this is where I'll stay. Needing another option I went back to school, again, in 2000 to receive my Library Media Specialist certification. 2002 was a great year. I got a new job as a media specialist and a new life. This keeps me busy and usually out-of-trouble. I maintain 850-900 seventh/eighth students on a yearly basis, along with 85 staff and administrators. I love it! On a personal level after kissing plenty of frogs, I met my Prince Charming on Yahoo Personals the summer of 2002. We lived about 5 miles away from each other in the same quaint town north of Dallas. We dated a year, became engaged, and were married 2004. We don't have children of our own, but 850 each year keeps us entertained with plays, sporting events, concerts, and the periodic middle school dance. :) Don is a pilot and a computer geek, and we travelled to every continent. OMG! We have retired, and we are still traveling. Okay, I'm no longer traveling internationally, kind of. Canada and Mexico is s...Expand for more
till a part a North America. lol In 2023 I hit 12 countries. January led to Israel, Egypt, and Jordan, April-May to Turkey and Greece, August to Norway, Denmark, Germany, Poland, Sweden, and Finland, and September to Chile/Easter Island. No more! I haven't been to Oregon, Vermont, South Dakota or South Carolina. Because my hubby has Parkinson's Disease, he had brain surgery (March 2024.) He's superman, but we couldn't travel as often. Next! Okay, I lied, but not really. We've been invited to The Stampede in Calgary, Canada by a couple we met on the Israel/Egypt/Jordan trip. Giddy Up! I'm always planning something, and 2025 is booked. Yosemite in May, a cruise around the Great Lakes in June, a reunion for Don's family to the Outer Banks in July, a catamaran cruise to Maine in September, to Philadelphia and Santa Barbara in October (not on the same trip,) to Mesa to see my Dad in November, and Christmas in Capitola, CA. I'm tired just reading it! Next year we are taking a cruise to Panama. Plan it and it will happen! Next, 2026 is on the docket. In January we are cruising to Panama and Central America, and we are meeting two couples that we had the opportunity to know from the Egypt trip. Jamaica, Panama, Costa Rica, Honduras, Belize and Mexico. In March we are heading to Memphis to see friends we met in Israel. Don flew in and out of Memphis for many years, but he never got a chance to experience it in the daytime. He was always flying midnights for UPS. Sun Studio, Beale Street, Graceland, Riverboat cruise, Peabody Hotel with the ducks, and the National Civil Rights Museum. I'm going! How about April and May? Time will tell.
