Robin's Story
Life
After graduating in '79, my boyfriend, an older Monroe Alumnus, Tim Crissman, and I went to Maui for a few weeks. You KNOW how crazy I was for him. When we got back, I had about a month before I took off for basic training, and what I thought would be a short 4 years in the USAF. In basic, Tim asked me to marry him, but it did not work out, as long distance things rarely do, and we never did marry. I pursued my career as an Air Traffic Controller in the USAF, with a vengeance, and became one of the top controllers. I also married, and had a daughter by the time I was 20. Hubby #1 did not work out, aircrew vs controller, we had issues :-)I spent 11 years serving in the USAF, traveling and generally enjoying life, before my mom got sick back in the valley, and I walked away from my military career to return home. After my moms passing, hubby #2 left the kids and I. I applied to, tested, and was hired by the FAA, to be an Air Traffic Controller at Burbank TRACON. I married another controller, had two sons and moved to San Diego before that relationship ...Expand for more
ended. I am still a controller, working out of the Southern California TRACON & enjoying the hell out of life. I have kept in touch with my best HS girlfriend, Pam Meeker, all these years, and my old HS boyfriend Tim as well. My cafeteria twin, Erick Kohler vanished off the face of the earth when I was about 22, never to be seen or heard from again. So far, I do not have a single regret. Peace. Ciao.
UPDATE 1/06
I am remarried, to another controller from LAX. I retired from VNY tower in November 2005, and am now a housewife and mom. As always, I am enjoying a full and rewarding life, and still have no regrets. We like to go to the dunes, Pismo and Glamis mostly, and the guys all ride quads. We also like a little spot on the northern end of Vancouver Island for Salmon fishing. There are lots of spots we like to "camp" in our motorhome at. We are planning to retire to southwest Oregon, in about 8 years.
BTW..... Erick called me a few years ago, to say he was in fact, still alive and on Earth, which cracked me up. He always was a funny guy.
Ciao!
