Robin's Story

I grew up on Gasche St. and attended Beall Ave. grade school and Bowman Jr. High until my parents built a new home in the Triway school district. I left Bowman Jr. in the middle of the 7th grade and finished junior high at Wooster Twp.,then attended Triway, graduating with the class of 1970. Being the small community that it is, I have maintained an interest in the Wooster Class of 1970 also having grown up alongside many of them as old neighbors. I have many childhood memories of these folks......walking to school on Spring St to Beall Ave. daily for several years. Wooster was an incredible place to grow up in the 1950's and 1960's. Our neighborhood on Gasche St. was a very good one back then and we (my family) were actually a minority then as most of the neighbors were Catholic and attended St. Mary's,. I recall these people most fondly as well and follow the Wooster High community as they joined it for high school. The Beall Ave. days were sweet and I recall them with much fondness. I was totally miserable however when moved on to the Bowman Jr. High. There were many cliques then and status was of great importance at that age. Being shy and immature I simply could not fit in, I was lost and at the most unhappy time of my life. My family moved to the Wooster Twp. community and I found a new world in this little country community. I was immediately welcomed and met and have maintained lovely friendships even after all of these years. I enjoy Classmates as an opportunity to follow up on the friends I lost touch with from childhood as well as my highschool friends. I will be sharing some old Beall Ave. photos here, having already done so on the You Know you are from Wooster" and Welcome Back Beall Ave kids" facebook sites. ty Park activities, JayCee Park, the fireworks at the College, sledding on the COW golf course, knowing all of your neighbors and having kids to play with during those long summer days were such blessings. My family moved at a critical time, just before the Vietnam War and the hippy era. Ushering in those new days came in the teenage years with the excitement of going to a new community and high school. I was a band geek and loved Triway band, remaining involved with the Music Boosters. I am retired now but was an employee of the State of Ohio for 30 yrs, working at what was then called the "Unemployment Office". My job was with the Employment part, an Account Executive. I worked with businesses in all sorts of ventures but primarily to help new business hire staff on a large scale such as staffing all of the new WalMarts in northern Ohio, doing all of the hiring for the major big factories like Rubbermaid and Volvo GM, doing PR , all in all it was like a regional sales job . I loved that job. At times I would travel up to 1,000 miles within a week in a six county area to work on projects. I was honored as the Employee of the Year for the State of Ohio and that even expanded the duties of a complex and fulfilling career. With all of this I had two babies at age 38 and 40 respectively. I married my highschool sweetheart, Rod Biddle whose circumstance is very close to my own with his growing up IN Wooster and moving out to Triway during junior high. He knows people from both community schools also. He is retired from a career in law enforcement, the last being Cuyahoga Community College in Parma. We still live near Wooster and it is within the Triway School district. Although life is certainly not without it's challenges, it is a good one. I look forward to communicating once more with former friends and comparing the many memories of these places. .
