Robin's Story

Life I moved from Anchorage in 1987, and moved to Wasilla. I LOVED it there! The kids and I spent alot of time in Hatchers Pass, they loved gold-panning, and picking blueberries. We did alot of that, plus fishing, four-wheeling when my husband was gone, which was alot of the time. He worked up on the North Slope on an Oil and Drilling Exploration Rig for a few different companies for about 14 years, so I just stayed home raising the kids. I moved from Wasilla, Alaska to Rice Lake, Wisconsin with my husband Dave of 24 years, and 4 kids in the winter of 1999. I work for a foods manufacturing company here, and love it. He works For a company that makes precision weights, and scales. As a CNC Machinist. The hot summer and sun are GREAT! We love to hunt, and fish... ice-fishing is great. Everyone here has ice fishing shacks, looks like a huge city on the ice. And we go boating alot. My husband wants to take the boat out on Lake Superior in Michigan, and all I can think about is the Edmund Fitzgerald sinking! I now have one grandson Christopher (Laine) Robin he's almost 2 yrs old, and another grandson on the way. Their mom is my oldest Amanda she's 23, and engaged to their dad Zach. Out of my 4 children I have 3 at home still. Buck Cody 16 he'll be a senior this fall, Heidi Jo 15 in 10th, and Missie Sue 14 starting high school this fall. Three of us in my family are also HAM's, Amatuer Radio Operators. I'm WL7DO, my husband Dave is NL7QC, and my son is KC9JGU. Amateur radio, often called Ham radio, is a hobby and public service enjoyed by about six million people throughout the world. An amateur radio operator, also known as a ham or radio amateur, uses advanced radio equipment to communicate with other radio amateurs for public service, recreation and self-training. We're still trying to get the girls licenced, they didn't pass the first time but, neither did I. Their also part of our counties Storm Weather Trackers, they look for tornado's and ect... There's lots to do here!! School The teacher that I had that influenced me the most was Mrs. McDonald in World History, 9th grade. She made the class fun, and exciting. She was a very thoughtful, and careing teacher. If you had problems she was always there to listen. I still think back on her even today. I wish my kids had just ...Expand for more
even *ONE!* teacher like her now. School dayzzzzzzzzzzzz, I daydreamed *ALOT!* I remember I did have this odd sub in middle school that alway's looked down my blouse's, and the perv showed up in my 9th grade english class as well. Needless to say, I got one eyefull of him, and skipped off to the library and that's where I stayed for the 2 day's he was a sub in my class! He had a habit of alway's trying to get me to stay after class for some reason or another....... I was never that stupid! Summer of 82' on spring break is when I finally got my first ever real b/f. Robert Leroy Sandage. Met him in the GlenCaren trailor court ball field while playing *touch football* with all the neighborhood kids. So when school started back up my head was in the clouds all the time *daydreaming!* about him. We had alot of good times, and good memories. Did alot of partying out at the *Bluffs!* A group of us got pushed off the cliff while talking by a drunk, I still have the mark on my leg from that one! I had alot of friend's, almost to many to count...... Anyone remember any of these people........ The Walker's, Monica (still Gorgeous!), Michele, and the notorious Mike (Crush). Dean Woods (my dad called him hop-a-long), Rick Brown, Rick Ridge, Yvonne Crowell, Pat Patton, and sis Joy, Patty, and Terry Baines, Loretta, and Leila Long ( The Twins), Terry, and Jerry Thomlinson (Twins also), Vicky, Leslie, and Tom Johnson, Kevin Martinson (Big Crush!), Terry Washington, Rueben, and Anna Robles, and her friend Star, Roxanna? Terry Whurl, Bob, Don, and lil sis Tammy Buckalew, Kendra, and Kendall? That trailer court had alot of kids in it while I lived there, and I probably knew everyone of them, or babysitted them once or twice. I either went to Elementary, Middle, or High school with all of them at some point or another. It's hard to remember everyone. Then there was my bud Roberta, and Robert Shockey and lil bro's Robert, and James Moody. I spent alot of time with Roberta, and her East High friends in those early high school years. Her friend Dawn?, Nick, and his friend Harry. There were alot more in that group, and right now I can't think of any of their names. So if I missed you........ so sorry. My memory is seeping them out little by little, and I gotta catch em for they *hit* the floor!
