Robin's Story

I've been living on the Central CA Coast for over 40 years, currently enjoying rural living in the Santa Cruz Mountains, twenty minutes from the beach. Still have friends in CT and family in Boston, and like visiting the East Coast, especially Collinsville (my CT home town) and Cape Cod. I'm semi-retired, and work part time at a couple of local libraries for fun. I also write a couple of blogs, seasonaleating.net and seasonalphotography.net. I love to travel and go to at least one place I've never been every year. In 2019 I visited several new places: spent extended time in Denver and Estes Park, and did some hiking in the Rockies (snow in June!) Also went to the Carrizo Plain for the superbloom, an enormous wildflower event in the middle of nowhere that happens unpredictably every decade or so. bispo, the latter two quite lovely towns. Still love the outdoors (and am thankful for my Girl Scout years!): hiking, swimming, camping, x-c skiing, etc. I live in the redwoods, so find plenty of local trails as well those at vacation destinations. In 1993 I founded Kuzanga, an Zimbabwean-style marimba band, and have spent the intervening years playing marimba and singing at all sorts of (Santa Cruz & San Fran) Bay Area events. Seems that Mr. Podolak and Mrs. Stoughton (our not-so-illustrious middle school music teachers) were wrong about my musical abilities. At least the 20 years it took to regain my confidence are long behind me. I 'm happily married to a native Californian who's into travel, photography, reading, film, and geeky techie stuff. He also works at University of California (where I'm retired from), and fixes my computer when it acts up. What's not to like? Life is good!
