Rodney's Story

December 18th Almost there. It's been a really good year for pretty much everything. I'm not saying that everything went my way, I am just saying that most things did without causing too much debt or unhappiness. I've continued with the no smoking policy. 1.4 years so far. I stopped drinking booze, went on a diet, and started working out. I have lost over 70lbs. Everybody keeps telling me that the next 70 is the most difficult, but if your heart is in it, it makes all the difference. All the clothes from 5 years ago are loose and I am looking for a new wardrobe very soon. I'm meeting a pile of new/old people lately, which combined with the odds and sods, make up for an interesting combination. Have a really great late winter/early spring planned with trips to Tampa, Chicago, San Diego, Sacramento, San Antonio and I plan on fitting in a cruise in there as well. May 15th area I plan on running in the Run for Water here in Abbotsford. I plan on being 190lbs at that time, and all the nay sayers can kiss my scrouny butt and come out and watch me do it. Really into the Abbotsford Heat for hockey and really disappointed with the Canucks. The Canucks are quite lucky that I'm not their coach. I'd be sitting some of those so called super stars down like right now. I don't know what it is but it seems that when they get traded here, they fall apart for quite a while and just give enough to make the grade. All I'm saying is after 30 years of watching, praying, hoping and crying: I'm moving on until they get their act together. I actually hope that they trade Hansen so that he may have a chance to become a productive player somewhere else. I have a pile of friends that call me a wagon jumper but come on, they suck and for the dough they want for a ticket, never mind the waste of time watching them lose in their inconsistent manner may drive a boy back to drink. Sorry for the rant but I'm sick of being kicked in the teeth. Can you believe that the Canucks made a movie about their coming up short all the time. What a waste of time. I started looking at myself thinking that I was one of those...Expand for more
poor BSTs that cheer for a lost cause. Oh well, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year for all the folks in the world. If you can, make a commitment to do some volunteer work in your community. You'll feel better for it and perhaps even a part of something. I'll post some before and after pictures and maybe you will find the inspiration to get up and do something about obesity. It sucks being fat, but it really helped being good looking. Now I'll have some young punk tell me I'm old and I'll buy an old car. After all the travel I'll be up in the Caribou fishing and fraternizing with the locals. Eagan is a must, although I have to go and see the Yorkshire girls at Free Rein. By the time I get up there, their pub should be ready and I should be at a respectable level to drink my face off. Hope to see all over the next year. roddy. January 26th Well, it looks like the Canucks turned the corner and started playing like a team. Must have been my banter prior to the New Year. Going to the game against the Blues tomorrow. Been in San Diego for a week and Tampa also for a week last week. Beautiful warm weather with Roddy displaying a little leg. Tampa was too busy. Worked a tradeshow alone and everytime I think I can do it effectively I should remind myself of meetings during the show. I'm just starting to get caught up on the sleep patterns. Business is very strong this year again. We work with some really good people and that makes things, even the challenges, fun. I am very , very blessed and I know it. San Diego next week, San Antonio some time mid Feb, and Louisville at the end of Feb, back up to Chicago in March and over to Manitoba in late march, working towards Palm Springs for show in April, then back to Chicago for another show the third week of april. May is full of travel and then it is summer. Three months of fishing and reading with a little work sprinkled in for good measure. Watch and learn as we roll through our lives. Once again blessed but I work hard and smart too. No compaints, a few regrets, great long term friends, best family in the world....til next time. roddy
