Rodney's Story

Life Hey, If anybody takes the opportuniy to reads this they just might remember who I am. I moved to Coal Creek Canyon before starting the fifth grade and attended Coal Creek Elementary. From there I went to Golden Junior High. Wow, was that a long bus ride from Coal Creek to Golden! So, part way through the seventh grade at Golden Junior High, while still living in Coal Creek Canyon, we changed school and I started attending Drake Junior High in Arvada. Then, half way through my ninth grade year at Drake, I was forced to return to Golden Junior High to finish the ninth grade. Unfortunately, I didn't fit in at the schools in Golden. So in the tenth grade I started attending Pomona High School. This was really difficult because I only knew "one" person in this new school. It was a great school but, by this time, I was a bad kid. So, regretfully, I never really made very many friends at Pomona. And what friends I made I either forgot their names or lost contact with them years ago. After dropping out of high school half way through my junior years I went to work for Lockheed Martin for six years. I then moved to Phoenix AZ. I left Colorado in 1988 to depart from the destructive life I was leading. God blessed me with another opportunity to start over once I left Colorado. But, I had to not only to change where I lived but also how I lived. Praise God, he opened my eyes! I never returned to the live style I once lived. Since living in Arizona I met the most wonderful woman and in 1989 we got married. We have two beautiful children, Rodney is 16, and Catherine is 15. This August we will celebrate our 18th year of marriage. God is good! After working in the defense / aerospace industry for twelve years it was time for a change. Besides, de...Expand for more
fense was on the why down in the early 90's, Clinton era. So, we started or own business and after ten of running an on site oil change company we sold out and I ventured into real estate. The Lord really blessed our efforts with the oil change business but, nevertheless, it was time for a change. Real estate is a different kind of challenge. Unfortunately, I have come to realize I perfer the type of business that does not require continual prospecting for new customers. So, to put the real estate license to work we purchase old homes, fix them up, and resale them. Along with doing that I have also started remodeling homes for other poeple. As I have gotten older I have a greater appreciation for the natural beauty of Colorado and do miss it. The incredible summers and brisk winter. The awesome mountains with rivers and creeks. Being able to disappear into the mountains for the day. Wow, what a beautiful place. Arizona just doesn't feel as much like home as Colorado does and I often think of moving back. Phoenix is nice but there is no place like home. I would like to take the opportunity to list the names of a couple people I have lost contact with and if anybody knows where they are now, I would greatly appreciate if you could e-mail me. Mike Lawrence was a friend from Pomona High School who also had a younger brother named Scott. Kelly Pennebaker is a female friend I knew at Drake Junior High, she had an older brother named Glenn who went to Arvada West. And last of all, Brian Brogden. Brian attended Arvada West with Glenn Pennebaker and my older brother Rusty. Once again, I would appreciate hearing from anybody who knows how I might contact these friends from long ago. God bless. In His Strength Alone, Sincerely, Rodney J. Rohrmann
