Life MY email is 'rogeramjetATshawDOTca' My kid memories start in Wallingford, CT. Being an only child was pretty lonely and it didn't take long to develop outdoor interests. There was no $ for gear but I remember winning my first fishing rod at a church bazaar. Later, an older friend Dennis Rourke would lead me to fish the Cheshire Resevoir illegally and after checking the sky and bridge for game wardens, we'd sneak to the shore and cast out frogs on bobbers for pickerel. Fishing became a passion. Somewhere around 6th grade, I read about fly fishing and started tying my own flies. It would take more than 8 yrs before I ever cast one, again because $ were short and finding places to flyfish was tough without wheels. End of 6th grade, we moved to South Burlington, Vt. I got active in scouting and developed a strong interest in hunting. Jack O'Connor became my hero and like him, I became the proud owner of a .270 and hungered someday to hunt in BC or Alaska. Funny how dreams appear! Graduated from UVM '73 BS Graduated from Mcgill '76 DDS Moved to BC to hunt, fish & whitewater kayak. Married a beautiful redhead, Maureen, 1980. We have 2 adult(?) children, Kate and Jameson now 24 and 21. The 4 of us snowboard, and spend time with together. I also practise dentistry in my spare time. Work week is Mon-Wed. using a surgical operating microscope to reduce tooth loss and increse accuracy in restorations. In 10 yrs this will be the industry standard. Watch! Life in BC especially in the Okanagan is a blast! We became grandparents in September '04. It seems too early but he is a beautiful child. So where'd the time go? Just finished a 2 yr house building/addition project. Key features include multiple panoramic views and geothermal radiant floor heating. Bit of a party house for intimate entertaining. WE live on the edge of a municipal mountain park. The summit is .9 miles away and 1000' above us. The dog and I ascend it 3-4 times a week. Now that house project is complete, I can resume pursuing my passion of fly fishing high mountain lakes. Sometimes, I break monotony by fly fishing for big game in Mexico like above pic. School Viewing High school thru the retrospectroscope brought home how awkward I felt thru the whole experience but in talking to others, they shared similar feelings. Too bad we coudn't have skipped the whole process and yet it was a time that prepped us for things later in life. I was fairly solitary due to my poor self image and 4 years of dental school did little to improve that. I especially enjoyed the dances because we got to mix in a less formal setting and I loved the music. I remember dancing with some of women in my class, especially the slow dances...What a rush! and much that I hear today of the old stuff instantly causes recall of many of you in a good way. While I excelled at academics, it was really just a game... we played so that we could go on t...Expand for more
