Roger's Story
My family moved to Coquina Key on the south side of St Pete and I attended Southside Junior High in the 9th grade. At Southside, I was a "Greaser" and used Vasoline Petrolium Jelly in my hair. Remember the "Duck Tail"?
I then attended St Pete High in the 10th and 11th grade. Starting in the 11th Grade, I decided to became a Preppy, much to the disapointment of my Greaser Friends.
If I remember correclty, they gave us the option to transfer to Lakewood High and I'm glad I did.
I had a lot of fun in the '67 Class at Lakewood High, well maybe to much fun. I skipped to many classes until the assistant principal finally caught up with me. But even after many years, I have to admit I miss those days at Lakewood an my old friends.
You may remember my Brother, Randy Lovelady, as he was a Freshman in "67. I always tried to watch out for him but as he seemed to experience a lot of disappointment in his life. He died in his sleep in his 40's. I still miss him.
After High School I joined the Army and spent some time in Viet Nam. I later lived a "Hippie" life and after a number of years, my hair was down my back (check out my photos).
During that time I met a beautiful girl, Cathy, got married. We had a Hippie Wedding a...Expand for more
t Phillipe Park in Saftey Harbour. We started a family and this helped me realize I needed to get more serious with my life.
I worked for a while and went to college, and moved away from the St Pete area. I discovered I had a talent in Sales and have now been in the Insurance and Real Estate business for many years.
I raised two daughters and now have four grandchildren who I have a lot of fun with.
Wow, that life went quick!!!! I will add info and photos periodically.
I enjoy target pistol shooting and especially Muzzleloader Blackpowder Rifle shooting. I am currntly teaching my 8 year old grandson how to safely shoot .22 caliber pistol and rifle.
I believe in home defense and self defense and hold a concealed weapons permit.
I enjoy camping and have been a member of an organization called the Frontier Camping Fellowship since 1982. We camp primitive frontier style portraying the era of the 1830's Western Rondevouzs of the Old West.
I am quite amazed at finding old friends from High School. Although I have missed the latest reunions, I plan to stay in touch and hope to get a chance to visit. I now have so many names and faces coming to mind that I would like to find out where they are and how they are doing.
