upposed to close because I went to a supervisor at least five levels above me and told him neither Auburn Hills or the Chelsea Proving Grounds could certify the tests I was doing. He put an "action team," including me, in place to fix the SHED at Auburn Hills. SHED is Sealed Housing Emission Determination. Basically it's putting a vehicle in a sealed box and fueling under controlled temps and conditions and measuring the hydrocarbons escaping. I think we're all old enough to remember when refueling a vehicle we saw fumes floating about. That is no longer allowed. They must be captured by an on board charcoal canister or in some states by what they call a stage two gas hose that has a big vacuum boot that sucks the fumes back into the underground tanks. I had to certify several vehicles , Prowler, Viper, PT Cruiser, and regular cars as the final step before Chrysler could put them on the market. Lots more of my 66 yrs, but that's it for now.
