Roger's Story

Life I started school at Howard Elementary School near Kokomo, IN. In the 5th grade we moved to Missouri where I attended Ellington El. and Jr. High. Later we moved back to Kokomo where I attended Bon Aire and Haworth (now Kokomo High). I joined the Army National Guard in Kempton, IN and later joined the regular Army. I was stationed in Alaska from '81 to '83 and got to Fort Bragg, NC just in time for Operation Urgent Fury in Grenada. I became a Christian in '82, and was married after leaving Alaska. My heart was in Alaska, but I had an Army career to deal with, so I served twenty years, the last fifteen of which were spent in 1st Special Forces Group, and I retired in June 2001. I returned to my new home in Alaska, and soon thereafter came the awful events of September 11, 2001. I set about trying to reenlist, but to no avail. I later got a job as an armed contractor, protecting the government officials in Iraq. I wouldn't trade one second of the life I've lived, except for the times when I failed God. After I'm done here,I plan to start two websites. They will be waldopop.com and waldocountr...Expand for more
y.com and will promote musical acts from outside the US. My marital status has changed since I wrote this the first time. For those of you who know me, you know that I stuck by that woman of mine faithfully. Well, she was very happy when I went off to Iraq. You see, I was worth more dead than alive. So, when she saw that I was not about to be blown up, she took my kids and left. I'm now divorced and happily so, because I'm now engaged to the most wonderful woman, and a lady with whom I've been friends for twenty years. . I now work for a satellite imagery provider in Anchorage. And, I've been Blessed to be able to develop many of the ideas I have had on a back burner, and to rub elbows with many big names. I'll keep you posted. Lastly, but by far the sweetest thing to happen in this world, short of Salvation, is that Sonya Larkey, formerly Sergeant Larkey, and I are engaged to be married on the 29th of August. I am head over heels in love with her and she makes me feel like a kid again. I can use that at my age. Most of all, she is, and will ever be the one great love of my life. Roger Bruce Walden
