Roland's Story
Life
I've started a new career as a computer repairman with a franchise called Computer Troubleshooters. Previously, I was a financial advisor for five years, and a technical and marketing communications writer for various high-tech firms in the Northwest (Washington, Oregon) for over 25 years before that.
My wife and I have threee kids, all grown and out of the house. Our oldest just got married this August and just finished his second year of law school. Our second son is working in Pittsburgh while his wife attends medical school. And our youngest, a daughter, just graduated from college and is working as an equine veterinarian's assistant.
I hope to spend the next 25 years staying active and healthy (both mentally and physically)...Expand for more

What have I learned from raising kids?
That your kids don't always do what you think you'd like them to. But they can teach you a lot about yourself and about the world if you let them. Kids turn you into a more loving, patient person. And uncomfortable as it sometimes is, the rewards of doing that are great.

You get one do-over. What do you do differently?
Much as I am still friends with guys from hy high school, the thing I'd do differently is NEVER go to high school seminary. My whole life is different, and has been more of a struggle, because of it.
