Roland's Story
Life
It,s been a long time since kennedy.
Same scratchings made on the chalkboard each day,
Thousand paths open, but only one way
Teachers will school you and give you a dare,
Follow your heart and youll sure have a scare.
The rich major medicine, the richer in business,
Surviving on the streets, youll be asking what is this,
A world with no change, except those made from money
Its no longer enough to have a heart made of honey.
These same scratchings on the chalkboard each day,
Forcing your mind and guiding your way
Only makes rebels, fighters who say
Give up, give out. Let today be our day
For those of you just starting out. DON'T USE YOUR MONEY, if you have at least 12 months in planning then collect non-refundable deposits, this works !! It makes your classmates take some responsibility for having a reunion, and reduces your stress so much.
I wish I had done this with the three previous reunions I planned, but live and learn....so if you have never planned a reunion before, take my word on it, its more work than you even can imagine, and its stressful....so BE KIND TO YOURSELF FIRST ....
I have a posting on the boards called BE...Expand for more
KIND TO YOURSELF FIRST, it explains how to go about collecting a deposit, before you ever put one deposit down. It also will make your planning alot easier, as it gives you an idea of how serious your classmates are in attending. Alot of the time when you are speaking with people they will say, I am looking forward to the reunion, however, when its time to send in the money they have all kinds of reasons why they now can not make it.
You are doing your class a HUGE favor in planning their reunion, if you have ever planned a wedding....planning a reunion is worse, it is more stressful because most of the time you don't have all the addresses, and its not free, so all the work you are about to put it, will not be appreciated by everyone.
Asking for a $25 non-refundable deposit should be looked at what it will cost for the class to organize their reunion, and after you are finished and realize the hundreds of hours of work you just put in, you know it was a labor of love because your hourly rate your class paid you was only $ .12/hr (if you only put in 200 hrs). I put in over 1250 hrs working on mine for 22 months = .02/hr
Think it over...get the deposit
