Ron's Story
Life
After returning from the service in 1971, I remained in the Chicago area and In 1973, married a girl from Des Plaines. We lived in an apartment in Bensonville for a year or so, then bought a home in Lake Zurich where we lived until 1978. A job change took us to Princeton, Illinois and we lived in the boonies until 1982, when we picked up with two very young boys and moved to Tampa, Florida. After a year renting in Tampa, we bought a home in Seminole, Florida where we live today, with our beagle and a toy poodle.
I still miss the autumn up north, the changing seasons, and the smell of burning leaves, and have yet to acclimate to the heat down here from May to September.
I hope to retire in a few years and spend part pf the year, probably mid-summer through October in the midwest.

youngest son, John, died in a tragic accident while attending Florida State University. He had just completed his second year of law school.
We flew to Chicago for our 31st anniversary and an opportunity to get away from things for a brief time, on November 4th. We enjoyed the nice weather and visiting the old neighborhoods, while marveling at all the changes, condos, and revitalization taking place around the loop.
I was also saddened by the closing of Meigs Field, as I still fly for fun; ultralight seaplanes and various general aviation aircraft. I've also taken on a new hobbie during the past 10 years. I work the airshow circuit here in Florida as a volunteer. My favorite airshow here, the second largest in the country (second only to Oshkosh), is Sun 'n Fun, held for a week each April in Lakeland, Florida. I'm responsible for air operations at Paradice City, the ultralight/light sport aircraft area of Sun 'n Fun.
