Ronnie's Story

ATTENTION: To All Eligible Ladies (single, divorced, widowed, or just plain hard-up): I AM INDEPENDENTLY WEALTHY. According to the last report from my accountants, I have learned that my personal wealth is valued in the HUNDREDS of DOLLARS !!! EDUCATION In May 1997, I completed my M.S.S. (Master of Social Science) Degree from Mississippi College. My undergraduate work was done at Hinds Community College and Mississippi College, where I received an A.A. (Associate of Arts) and a B.S. (Bachelor of Science) Degree in History and minor in English. While working over 40 hours each week, I was able to graduate from both Hinds and Mississippi College with Honors and was active at both schools in many functions, including the Student Senate (Senator of the Week 1991 & 1992, Senator of the Year 1992), Phi Theta Kappa (Vice-President), Pi Gamma Mu, Omicron Delta Kappa, Phi Alpha Theta (President), Phi Alpha Delta (President). The Trustmark ATM Machine formerly located in the B.C. Rogers Student Center was a result of my efforts as a Senator for Mississippi College. While in the Senate at Hinds, I chaired the committee to rewrite the Code of Conduct, Election Rules, and the Hinds Community College Student Body Constitution. While at Mississippi College, I chaired the committee to rewrite the Student Code and the Mississippi College Student Body Constitution. I also served as Senate Representative to the Mississippi College Board of Trustees, as Commuter Representative to the Mississippi College Administration and also as Student Body Representative to the SACS (Southern Accreditation of Schools and Colleges) Committee. Between my Bachelor of Science and my Master of Social Sciences degrees, I attended 3 of the 6 required semesters at Mississippi College School of Law and may return there one day. However, due to the amount of time input required of law school (as well as finances), it may have to wait forever. After all, family and church come first and MOST (not all, by any means) lawyers, to put it in legal terminology, "lack the mental and emotional capacity to consider people other than themselves worthy to succeed in life." I was born December 31, 1954, in Vaiden, Mississippi, and lived there until I moved to Jackson, MS in 1981. Before moving to Jackson, I played drums in many local bands including The Livin¿ End (Article), ColdFire, the John C. ("Bubba") Calhoun Band, and Magnolia Blue. After relocating, I played with the Hi-Lites, the Earl Bishop Band, and Borderline. While The Livin' End won local awards, the others offered opportunities to play with Nashville stars such as Helen Cornelius, Jim Ed Brown, Kenny Price, Dottie West, Percy Sledge, David Frizzell, and Dickie Lee. While I wasn't playing in the bands, I was busy riding go-karts, motorcycles, camping out, building on my super-fortress (the Mighty Treehouse), or cruising in my 1972 Plymouth 'Cuda with my favorite band of all time, Grand Funk Railroad, playing at ear-splitting levels. At the present, I ride a rocket, my Honda V65 Magna (1100cc). My most recent band was Lock-N-Load. I am the only child of Alf Trotter Collins and Juanita Hambrick Collins Rhine, of Vaiden. My middle name (Lee) came from my Grandmother, Exyah Le...Expand for more
e Bond Hambrick. I have two wonderful sons, Cody Ryan Collins (born 03/30/1993) and Sean Eric Collins (born 03/05/1996). I graduated from Vaiden Elementary School on 05/24/1968, from Vaiden High School on 05/21/1972, from Hinds Community College (Associate in Arts Degree) on 05/20/1990, and Mississippi College (Bachelor of Science in History, 05/16/1992, and Master of Social Sciences Degree, 05/10/1997). I currently live in Florence, Mississippi and work for Mississippi Farm Bureau Casualty Insurance Company. Previously, I worked for Pomeroy IT Solutions, a national computer service firm that provides IT support for businesses nationwide. I'm a Computer Technical Specialist and, among many other hobbies, spend my spare time with my boys and doing historical research and WEB page design. I am the author of 240+ web pages, including The History of Vaiden, Mississippi WEB Pages, and the Childhood Memories Page. I also wrote "Capitol Murder: Tempers and Temperance :Truth and Consequences," which was accepted for publication by the Mississippi Journal of History, while I was completing my Masters Studies at Mississippi College. The Final Draft for this paper is still in progress and awaiting submission. My father, Alf Trotter Collins (05/22/1913 - 01/24/1964), was one of the eight children of Major Robert "Bob" (01/15/1872 - 01/11/1945) and Erma Rodgers Collins (02/14/1878-10/04/1953) of Winona. Alf was killed in an automobile accident while enroute to work at the J.A. Olsen Company in Winona, MS. The Collins family included: Joe Marlow (12/31/1897 - 06/17/1966), Ladell Small (Dell) (10/05/1900 - 08/30/1949), Lottie Mae (02/05/1902 - 03/21/1997), Lattie Rodgers ("Doc") (04/28/1905 - 08/07/1977), Lay Turner (10/20/1907 - 02/28/1985), Nick Pegues (06/13/1910 - 02/07/1999), Alf Trotter (05/22/1913 - 01/24/1964), and Susie Ellen (11/27/1915 - 12/11/2007). Major Robert Collins married Erma Lou Rodgers on 01/21/1897. Erma was the daughter of William Rodgers and Ellen Jane Morgan. Major Robert and Erma Rodgers Collins are buried at the Oakwood Cemetery in Winona, MS. I am a certified computer technician, and love to spend time with my two wonderful sons, Cody and Sean. If you want to see me smile, mention my boys. They are the greatest joy that I could ever have hoped for. I am the Webmaster of the Vaiden, Mississippi website (vaiden.net). If you want to know more about me, visit vaiden.net/blast_from_the_past.html; vaiden.net/bio.html; vaiden.net/collins_hambrick_history.html; or vaiden.net/certs.html. ------- I like to read (although mostly the "audio books," love to spend time with my boys, cooking and grilling, playing music, watching DVDs, watching the boys in their school band, watching Sean play baseball, working on the computer (I'm a computer tech), and riding my motorcycle. My favorite movies (DVDs): To Kill A Mockingbird, Frequency, Star Trek Voyager, Schwarzenegger movies (True Lies, Last Action Hero, etc.), The DaVinci Code, Angels & Demons, and anything historical. Audiobooks: Digital Fortress, anything by Edgar Cayce, Dan Brown, John Grisham or Nostradamus.
