Life
Married Peggy Henry in 1956. Went to WVa Tech and WVA State prior to Morris Harvey, where I received my BS Degree,. During career with USDOT, FHWA, lived and work in Hawaii, Saudi Arabia, San Francisco, Kentucky, W.Va,and Ohio.Received my Masters degree while working in KY. Three children: Ronnie, who we live near in Bristol, VA,, retired as Executive Vice President and part owner of Precast Services,a construction company, who my brother, Barry,,sold to 4 employees; Sean for 7 yrs flew business jets for NetJets,(wealthy businessmen and women, actors, musicians, sport figures, former President of USA, etc.. Since 7/08 he has been flying for Southwest Airlines, is now a Captain, and lives in Las Vegas.. Kim works for a medical device company in Florida... All 3 are veterans. We traveled the world and enjoyed it very much. Hobby is genealogy. Found out I was probably related to at least a fourth of Sherman students. Grandson, Michael Calvert pitched his 12 year team to Babe Ruth Bambino World Series title in 1998, striking out 50 batters in 23 innings. Son, Sean went 3 years to Sea Pines Abroad boarding school outside Salzburg, Austria while we lived in Ryiadh, Saudi Arabia. I retired from Government in 1994 and worked for real estate developers before retiring in December, 2006. Peggy is retired.
My Indian DNA is from Chief Algonquin S. Powhatan, the father of Pocahontas. Peggy has the same thru our Elkins and grandson Michael thru his grandmother Davis. My Haplogroup G2a3b1a2 traces my father-to-son YDNA from USA to Wales to Switzerland to Etruscans, to Romans to Troy to Thracia to Armenians, who lived around Black Sea. Mother's mtDNA haplogroup is H, which also originated around Black Sea. thousands of years ago. My de Toney ancestors, who were Vikings, were haplotype R1b1a2. Ancestors also go back to Roman, Byzantium, and Egyptian rulers, like Ramses I. Ancestry also goes back to Rurick tzars, who ruled Russian until abt 1580. e Prophet "Mohammed". I have multiple Plantagent ancestors including Royal houses of Catalonia, Aragon, Castile, Portugal, France, and England. My YDNA matches that of an Byzantine knight buried with Frank knights in Ergolding, Germany in 670 AD. With my dark featured, I passed for an Arab in Saudi Arabia. I've been ask by a Kurd if I was a Turk and by a Jew if I was Jewish. Today, G2s are a rare group of people, other than in the Country of Georgia and nearby Ossetia, both near the Black Sea. G2's in those two areas account for 60% and 30% of the population. My interest in genealogy goes back 40 years. I attended a lecture by Alex Haley of "Roots" fame, at KSU. A major influence was my friend, Sigfus Olafson, who died in late 1980s at age 90. I share, thru my Clay, French, Lewis, and Warner ancestors, the same 8th great grandfather as UK Queen Elizabeth II. On my mother's Brown side of the family, Marlon Brando was a cousin. I was in 1992/1993 platinum edition of Who's Who Worldwide. I was very active in civic affairs and local Hawaiian politics in the 1970s, winning several elections on a NP basis. Thru Duke of Toulousse, who is my 39th great grandfather,I am descended from the Jewish House of David. Descended from Mark Antony of Cleopatra fame.and Prophet Mohammad, who is .my 46th great grandfather. I also have common ancestors thru my Toney bloodline with President George Washington, General Robert E. Lee, Meriwether Lewis, Catherine Middleton, Princess Diana Spencer, and Winston Churchill..
Workplace
Since I worked my way thru college and married young, I've worked at many jobs (Dr. Pepper Bottling Company, gas station, U.S. Steel, DuPont, Drug Store, assistant to coal mining engineer (all before I was 21 years old) and later with USDOT, FHWA, Financial Manager, Program Analyst, Administrative Officer. Since retiring from USDOT in 1994, I've been in cemetery sales, resident relations, and contracting. Retired for good December, 2006.
Family: In addition to our 3 children, we have 4 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
