Ron's Story

Life My Spouse I met Luella when we were both soldiers stationed at Camp McCoy (Now Fort McCoy) in Wisconsin in the summer of 1969. I was a Chaplain's Assistant and she was a Finance Clerk. Her first words to me were "May I help you, Specialist?) My Pets Not much to tell. They're really Luella's pets. We have a little black dog, slightly larger than a Chihuahua called Baby. We also have a Llasho Apso named Benji. My Kids Our two children are remarkably different than one another. Crestalee is 31 and married. Travis is a free spirit at 29 still trying to find himself. Both are marvelous experiences and raising them was the most humbling experience of my life. My Job I am a social worker in a SuperMax Prison in Wisconsin. I leave during the day frequently just to make sure they will still let me out. I work with a great crew and a lot of inmates who are pretty much hopeless. A few of them are salvageable, though, and I concentrate my work on them. It's very rewarding and challenging work. I think I'm about three years away form retirement. Sooner if things work out well.

TBT picture. Camp Stilwell Japan where I lived in 1952-ish.
This is WAC Circle and the PX complex in Frankfurt, Germany. Crossing the road at that circle was dangerous. My brother and I figured we'd die there someday. This was taken in about 1957.
