Ron's Story
Life
Hi there! Do you remember me? I remember NPHS and almost all my classmates like it was yesterday. I went to Santa Clara Univ. out here in California and got a BS in Electrical Engineering and then began working at Lockheed (now Lockheed Martin) in the aerospace field as a Reliability/Systems Engineer in Sunnyvale, CA. At work, I use hardware failure rate probabilities and lots of spreadsheet math models to determine how well and how long space hardware will work and if more redundancy is needed in the designs. I also look at what will happen to the mission if different pieces of hardware fail. I work on several space "programs" -- including some highly classified stuff for keeping our country and world safer and others that provide things like your dish network TV service, cel phone and pager services. I really like what I'm doing which explains why, after 20 years, I'm still working at the same company! As to my personal life, I got married in August 1997. In early 1998, my wife Laurie and I bit the bullet and bought a house in Silicon Valley (don't talk to me about our mortgage), but we have managed t...Expand for more
o stay ahead of the bills because my wife also works (she does clinical/regulatory for small startups). We live in Sunnyvale along with our two adorable kids, Meghan (born in 2000) and Ryan (born in 2003), a chocolate lab (Gunner) and two cats (Magic and Pyewacket). For fun, besides playing with the kids and getting them into sports, I bowl once a week and wish I could play golf more (but I realize that with my last name, I'll never hit it straight anyway). I've always been into hi-tech gadgets, with my favorite (by far) being the Nintendo Wii these days. Finally, according to my wife, I spend way too much time online (my single malt scotch collection is well over 50 bottles! ... ahem... why did I ever try ebay?) and playing fantasy sports (baseball and football), so computers and the internet are certainly favorites of mine. The truth is that life really has been all about the kids every since they've come along, and I wouldn't have it any other way. I'm really happy and have no complaints about my life, except that I've lost touch with many of you. I hope you drop me a line, because I'd love to hear from you!
