Ron's Story
Life
Worked in the Hubbard Lake area during the summer of 70. In the Air Force from 71-79. Sold Ford Parts 79-84. With Fed Govt(DoD/Army) 84-present. Plan to retire in 2010 to Traverse City area. Live in Howell MI since 86. Married in 74. Have 1 son, 2 daughters and 3 grandsons.
School
I graduated from Alcona High School (Lincoln MI) in '70. I added Milford High because I spent most school years at Huron Valley (from the fall of '57 at Highland Kindergarten Cottage thru 8th grade at Highland Junior High, 1966)and noticed a lot of familiar names on the '70 MHS site.
College
Went to Alpena Community College on part time basis at night after I got out of the Air Force. Close to Associates Degree, never went back to finish.
Workplace
Mostly military work since '71, both active duty with the Air Force (71-73), Air National Guard (73-79) and as civilian with the Army (84-present). Did NOT go to VietNam but South Carolina instead. ith many Construction Equipment companies, buying and supporting the Army's Engineering Equipment. If you see a green or tan Army loader, I probably had something to do with getting it into the Army's inventory! I like the job, let's me get out and see the troops, I've treveled to many places around the country from east to west with the Army. Plans are to retire in 2010 with over 30 years civil service and 58 years old. If any of you old vets from '70 read this I'd love to hear from y'all. And John Good, where da heck did you go after the Air Force? And Carl Brown? And Solomon Gauthier? All you'ns are vets, drop me a line. And John Weese, I found him! Military
Air Force basic training, fall '71. Shaw AFB, SC,'71-'73. K I Sawyer AFB, MI, '73. Selfridge '73-76, Alpena CRTC (Air Nat Guard Training Site), '76-'79. U S Army TACOM, Warren, MI - '84-present. Lots of TDYs to many places around US and some to Canada. Career has been good but looking forward to retirement.
