Ron's Story
Life
Lived in Southern California since graduation from Auburn. Until 1994, in Orange County, Anaheim (Disneyland), Laguna Hills, Huntington Beach. Now live in adjacent Riverside county in the mountain community (5300') of Idyllwild just west of Palm Springs. Great place, lots of trees, no traffic lights and 4 seasons. A lot like home with one big exception, no summer humidity.
Worked at North American Aviation (now Boeing) 62-67 and Hughes Aircraft (now history) 67-96. Did electronics design, test engineering, project management (got lots of travel) and from the early days of desktops without support organizations, got into tech support for Macs, that leading to getting outsourced and retirement on April 12 1996. As a displaced aerospace worker, got free training and got into PCs but life's distractions steered me away from getting another job.
Married in 64, Divorced (officially) 89, 2 girls, Melissa & Michelle (67 & 69), 3 grandkids, Heather (1999), Jenna (2000) and Gavin (2000). I got a late start o...Expand for more
n kids and so did my kids. I was 60 before becoming a grandpa.
Girlfriends Ann 96-03, Judi 05-06.
Travel Business got me to Europe (primarily Germany) 3 times in 10 years, Long Island, Seattle, Point Mugu, Huntsville and El Paso numerous times. I've been to Hawaii once, with Ann in 03, Japan once, with high school buddy Wayne who live there for 7 years (my own personal tour guide) in 04. More local travel is to Orange County (oldest daughter) and about twice a year to Phoenix & Tucson (friends) and once on to Farmington, NM (youngest daughter).
Auburn campus Only been there once, in 97, and was a detour going from home to Atlanta so spent only an hourish driving around and trying to recognize the place.
Parents Dad died in 83. Mom is currently in assisted living in Riverside. She got Alzheimer's and in 01, moved her to California to live with me and soon had to put her in a home as she got unmanageable. She shows no signs of knowing me in several years.
