Ron's Story

Life Well, I've retired from Genentech in So. San Francisco, Ca. I have moved to Redding Ca. on the 28th of June '08. I live near Sundial Bridge about 1/2 mile from where my last two photos were taken. My only son lives in Phoenix, Az. I am a Widower for 6 years now and am looking forward to the "back 9" of life. I will be traveling and getting to know what it is like to get up early to do anything I want. I consulted for three Engineering firms for awhile after leaving Genentech, but now am concentrating on enjoying myself. I now[ 2012] have remarried and am still in Redding. Workplace After serving in the US Army, I bounced around several jobs. I have been a Life Insurance agent,a Teamster, a Butcher, owned 2 Delicatessen's,one in Berkeley, one in SF Mission dist.( went back to school at night) was a partner in a Combustion Engineering firm, (US Steel was a prime account) worked for myself as an Instrumentation process control technician. I had accounts from Monterrey to Lake Shasta, worked on everything from the tide pool controls at the Monterrey Aquarium to Cheese and Sausage co. controls to water treatment at SFO Airport.Worked in many refineries around the Bay Area as an Instrument Tech. y found a Home in Biotech with Genentech, in So. San Francisco. I was in charge of their Facilities Monitoring System monitored the manufacturing processes and lab equipment. All in All it's been quite a trip. I now enjoying gardening, the pool, golf and fishing trips. UPDATE: July 2009, Well the fishing has been quite good at Shasta Lake and other lakes and streams in the Redding area. I have had my picture in the Western Outdoor News twice this year holding large Trout. I released them both as I only keep a few to eat. I'm enjoying retirement and recommend it to everyone. My Golf game is coming along and I am now a 11 handicap with a goal of 6 or better. One day I hope to shoot my age and get a hole in one. I'll keep you posted, Update: November 2011, Fishing continues to be good here in the North State. More Western Outdoor pictures. Caught the biggest fish in a local Trout Tournament last month, won $375. Up here We consider this the State of Jefferson not California. My golf handicap is now 9 and I try to play 27 holes per week. I'm fly fishing along with my boat fishing, upland game hunting is getting to be more than I can handle so photography is in my future. I'll see you at the 50th Reunion, Ron
