Ron's Story
It's Jan.2006, Hello, 1959 classmates from Sealth & West Seattle High schools this is Ron Rodgers and I do remember some of you. I think about our times at school a lot now that I'm a old retired WARHORSE. HA! HA! they sure were good times. I lived up on 35th & Webster st. by the Drug store and Tylers Shell gas station, until graduation then I moved to Bellevue. I drove north everyday to Everett JR. College and worked at the Pacific Northwest Bell Telephone Co. garage in Bellevue, working on cars and trucks at night to pay my way through school. I married Sandra Lee Warehime, from Arbor Heights, in 1962 I'm sure some of you remember her she was in my brother Tom's class 2 years behind me and it lasted until 1988. In 1965, I joined the US Army, wanting to serve my country during Vietnam war but they sent me to Europe, where I lived with the French Air Force. We installed and guarded the nuclear warheads on Nike Hercules Missiles, then when France pulled out of NATO in 67, I was sent north to Germany, where I helped start a new missile site up on a cold, cold MT. in a very small town called Kemel. I was able to bring Sandra over in late 67, in 68, our son Trace, was born at Wiesbaden Airbase about 70 miles away, my daughter Teena, was born a month after I returned to Seattle in 69. I moved to Apache Jct. Arizona home of the Superstition MTS. and the "Lost Dutchman Gold Mine" after returning from the Army in Dec. 68. I started a Carpet business, built a small horse ranch in the Superstition MTS. and raised horses, cattle, chickens, turkey's, dogs, cats and two kids, it was a good life, I also was able to finish my education at Arizona State, Tempe, in 1974. In 1990 I remarried a lady from Cottage Lake in Woodinville, WA. with three beautiful small children so with my two I have five children now we moved to Ukiah, northern Cal. where the grape vineyards meet the Redwood Forest, on highway 101 which heads north into Oregon. I opened another Carpet store also I built and ran a BMX (bicycle Moto Cross) track, 1,440' long with 200+ children from 5-17 years old that I helped train to ride BMX style racing , I took the bes...Expand for more
t riders to races all over Cal. and to the BlackJack Nationals in Reno, Nevada. After ten years in 2000 my wife and I decided to divorce so I returned to AZ. went to work for our local school district in 03, I had a Stroke it left me with permanent Vertigo then in 05 I had a heart attack they put two stents in one artry to my heart so with what's left of me I decided to retire and now at 71, I'm taking life easy, I still have my Champion Pro Bass Boat so I go fishing when I feel up to it. To add to my story on May2, 2012 I lost my son Tracy he was only 43yrs old I miss him greatly things aren't going very good for me at this time. Thanks for reading my story, God Bless, Ron Go Huskies, Go Sun Devils, Go Suns, Go Ron
