Ron's Story

Left Shawnee High before graduation and of course the freaky accident that injured my back created an opportunity for me to begin a new path in life. Like so many other people at that age I took the wrong career path away from my true calling and got a degree from OU in computers and business. Did the computer thing in the mid-80's till I helped run a company dealing with assisted living and case work managment for mental health in Dallas, TX. Met my wonderful and beautiful wife, Angie and we packed up and moved to Beverly (ok not! Mississippi) Here we have a family with three wonderful kids - Amber N'Cole (cause I told my best friend Celeste that I would name my first girl that, and I stuck to it) - Amber is 15, Dallas is 14, and Zoe (named before the stupid Sesame Street character) is 12. I also have a beutiful daughter (Reagan) who we just recently found out about that lives in Kansas with her mother. There is also Abi who is like our adopted daughter who is 21 and in college, but she is such a BIG part of our family! After a successful stint in business I walked away from the business world and answered my calling into ministry. (SURPRISE!) I have been a minister in the United Methodist Church since 1999. If that doesn't shock you, the fact that my wife is a fitness trainer should put you in a coma! Ok, I am gonna answer the little geeky questions it prompts me to answer! If I could meet any teacher again, it would have to be my old friend Terry Levalley, and oh yeah the dufus that they had as principal for a few months that we had the walk out for at school! The craziest thing I did in high school was to ride the motorcycle down the hall naked or to slide downt he supports to the water tower or do a swan dive off the top of the bridge over a river somewhere out by Ada, I think. ...Expand for more
The first person I had a crush on didn't go to Shawnee... she went to Meeker and her name was....UHHHH I honestly can't remember, but it started with a "C" or a "K"!! I hope that old friends remember me sober (that might be difficult!) & kicking all the lockers shut with Mike Kerstetter! To be truly happy, I would be wherever I felt that God is calling me to be at that moment, that day, that place..... I relish the opportunities that I am given to have an impact on people's lives. Personally I would spend it anywhere with my family, probably doing anything thrilling and exciting...ok maybe not whole family, but me and my oldest daughter would definitely be rock-climbing, white-water rafting, bungee jumping, whatever-- we would definitely be doing it!! The biggest suprise about life not turning out the way you expect it is just that!!! It doesn't turn out the way you expect!! How boring would that be!!! What would be my do-over ---- hmmmm my wife says to have not lost touch with my best friend (you know who you are) in high school, she is of course right! Although I would add -- taking back any pain I caused to others. The weirdest job I have ever had...hmmm for most of you reading this --- it would be what I do know as a minister!!! Ok enough questions! That's my story and I'm sticking too it!! I still love music, I sing, I am finishing up my second Master's in May. Believe it or not, I brought a group of teenagers from our church to Oklahoma for a mission project and we actually visited Shawnee last year! We completely pigged out at the Golden Corral until we got kicked out! As you can probably tell, I believe that life is full of surprises and that we are here to live it to the fullest! I am one of those ministeres who believes in loving people, laughing and being real!
