Ron's Story

Life Alright, I'm lazy.......I just pasted my bio from the website. Being from Wisconsin, it is always a great chance to be on the air in my home state. Packers, Badgers and yeah even the Brewers, deer hunting in the fall, ice fishing in the winter. C’mon on - how can you NOT love Wisconsin AND the music on WOGB?? Growing up in the small town of Cameron (home of the Comets-we were small, but we were slow) it was SMALL town defined, but it was great. I look forward to meeting you, the listener, and thanking you for listening to WOGB. Plus, I can’t wait to tell you all the inside scoop on Don, Lisa and Dan. Being the middle child explains a lot about me. Aren’t we the mixed up ones? My older brother is a computer genius who builds computer programs for new casinos from Las Vegas to Puerto Rico. He will not be a soup line anytime soon….and the younger brother is a mechanic/body guy. Do you know what they charge for labor?? No soup line for him either. Then there’s me who is on the radio. Still not sure how it happened? I was going to college one day (I was going to be an English teacher) then the next thing I remember I was graduating from Brown University, which is a well known broadcasting school, and headed to South Dakota for my first radio job. I have seen and done a lot of things that I never thought I would get to do. Drive a monster truck, flipped a stunt car, ride an elephant, chased a 1200 pound bull around in a rodeo, pretty much the only thing is light myself on fire. (I’m trying to avoid that one) I still would rather spend the day with kids then with most adults I know. Just to watch them grow up and learn and experience new things. Imagine t...Expand for more
he look on a 5 year old’s face the first time walking into Miller Park or Lambeau for a Packer game. Priceless. Here are some of my favorites….follow along and see if you agree with any.. Movies: Really too many to mention, the original Star Wars trilogy still is awesome. Fletch, and I’ll admit it-I like Tom Cruise movies. There I said it. Food: FREE is a good way to get me to eat. I am not a big fan of seafood, but being from WI I do enjoy the occasional Fish Fry. TV Shows: Ever since the very first Survivor appeared I have been hooked on it. I have NOT missed one episode. I actually started to watch repeats on the Outdoor channel. I miss shows like Taxi and All In The Family. It’s too much with the Reality shows these days. Books/Reading: I got into reading because of an English Professor of mine-Ken Bowman. I was reading Falkner, Hemingway (overrated by the way), Waldon etc. One story that sticks out is called "The Lottery" by Shirley Jackson. If you get a chance-read it. Alright, everybody who knows me knows my most embarrassing moment, caught on videotape mind you. Picture it, Senior year in high school, last home football game of the year, tons of people, if we won we were off to the playoffs, introduction time, they call my name and number, I come running through the tunnel and on to the field, I make it to about the 40 yard and something reached up and tripped me. I didn’t fall right away, no…., I took a good 5-6 stumble steps and slowly made my way to the ground, where I did a somersault and popped up on my feet. My mom STILL cracks up everytime someone brings it up and that was two decades ago!! We did win the game.
