Ron's Story

Hi, It's been a lot of years now and I hope everybody who reads this back in Cornell is doing well. I attended CHS from 71-75 and I have some good memories. I was ridiculously shy then - not so much now. I was skinny then - not so much now. I have been living in California for the past 12 years - In the San Francisco area. I love the weather, the cultural environment, including the music scene. One big regret I have is that I never took any music classes or participated in band when I was younger. I am now learning to play guitar and I find it a bit of a struggle because I have no training to fall back on. I have been involved in the cable television industry since I took my first job in 1978. I'm no longer "The Cable Guy" but for a number of years that was my job, climbing poles and all that. These days I work for a supplier of tech equipment to the cable and telephone industries - we make switching and routing equipment for video. I run our Solutions Engineering team, with folks scattered around the globe. Needless to say, I travel - a lot! I have a son Don, and he is 19 and in his first year of college. He's attending a community college in Ft Collins CO, and he intends to transfer to Colorado Statue University i...Expand for more
n a year. I was back in WI this summer, as my sister Barb rented a lake house by Chetek and we had a great time. I didn't get to Cornell this time, but I will get back hopefully next summer for a bit. I have no idea if my class is still doing any kind of reunion. Anybody out there know? I'd be interested. A lot of folks seemed to bolt out of town and never look back. I know that happens, but I hope most have at least from time to time had some fond memories of the few years we spent at CHS. I remember science experiments when Leonard Olsen was teaching. I was a bit of a class goofball during labs - I usually got to the right answer, but I didn't play by the rules. I got more than one eraser flung at me for that! LOL, wouldn't have had it any other way. Joy, thanks for putting up with my lunacy, and Cathy, your dad was a riot, and a very intelligent man. I learned a lot, despite my efforts not to. The pix in my album have been taken over a number of years, which will be obvious. The ones with guitars are from the past 2-3 years as that's when I developed an interest - well, maybe more of an obsession than an interest. :) I'll add more to this when I have some time to write, and to reminisce. Take good care, Ron
