Ronald's Story
Life
I guess I should update this more often. My Youngest son was killed in a car accident on October 28, 2009. A car failed to halt for a stop sign and struck the passenger side of the vehicle I was driving, killing my youngest son -age 19- on impact. He is an Eagle Scout, had been re-elected to a second term as Lodge Chief for his Council's Order of the Arrow Chapter, BSA's Nat'l Honor Society, in 2008. He was planning on running for an unprecedented third term as Lodge Chief. He was a freshman at Monroe Community College in Rochester, NY. Contributions may be made to the Austin J. Boyd Memorial Fund, c/o Iroquois Trail Council, Bsa, 45 Liberty Street suite 2, Batavia, NY 14020. This fund is intended to assist with camp improvements at the summer camps Austin worked at and loved.
My oldest son is a Senior this year at American University as a political science major. He has interned for Sen. Schumer (D-NY...Expand for more
) and Congresswoman Slaughter (D-NY). I am still residing in Holley/Clarendon, NY. Still listed in the phone book. One of these days I'll pay the fee to see who the people are signing the guestbook.
School
School memories . . . too many to list . . . study hall, track, band; teachers like Fred Rowan, Mr. Fagan, Mr. Morrell, Frank Fusco; being on the cutting edge of technology with that one clunky computer connected to FLCC with a teletype keyboard instead of a monitor . . .
College
MCC, SUNY Brockport x2, SUNY UB; permanently certified elementary school teacher; professional certification as school librarian; AAS, BS, MS-Ed, MLS.
Workplace
Still at School #17 in Rochester, NY. SmartBoard, Sympodium, wireless, all the bells and whistles plus books. Working summers at scout camp, again.
Military
Nothing but memories. My military service pales in comparison to what our 21st century soldiers are experiencing.
