Life
i'm divorced, with 1 daughter,she graduated from Hanover college june 2004(with honors).she just got her acceptance letter from Vanderbilt today to start seminary studies this fall! yep, my daughter is gonna be a minister. she is also getting married this june(2005). i've been a longhaul trucker since 1986,so i've seen a great deal of this great country. i've met some really wonderful people out there(and some not so wonderful).but ,hey, it beats being stuck inside all the time!!

well, my daughter still hasn't gotten to Vanderbilt yet, the realities of life kinda got in the way!! after getting married, she & her husband both took jobs here in anderson & fishers, plus they were having trouble locating affordable housing near the college.
when i am home, i've been spending many evenings at the Grandview restaurant & pub, at the Grandview golf course. i urge everybody to go check it out, the owners are nice people & the food is very good, reasonably priced, too. it's a nice, laid back atmosphere & they have 2 tv's for watching sports, etc.

wow, how things change,huh? from a skinny 15 yr old that wasn't even a little excited about getting a driver's license to a long-haul trucker before i was 30! some will remember me working at the milk barn at 1"st & madison (also nichol & madison, and edgewood), then i went to work as a tire man at a local tire store, had a herald/bulletin motor delivery route at the same time. i moved to Lafayette & got married at 20,...Expand for more
worked in a liquor store, then managed a fast food place.then got divorced. from there i delivered pizzas around Purdue, worked in a plastics factory, then went back to run the pizza place. was also a bouncer in a strip club in West Lafayette.finally decided to give trucking a try in 1986 & been trucking ever since. only took me 11 years to figure out what i was going to do in life! all those years were not wasted, however. i learned a lot about life & a lot about myself.it was some time after my divorce that i quit being the skinny, shy kid & decided something had to change. delivering pazzas & working a strip club definitely made me more out-going. trucking has made me even more out-going. just ask any waittress.....they all think i must have been the class clown in school!! i can't think of any other job i'd rather be doing.... i get to travel, i get paid pretty well for it, i see all kinds of people, some good, some not so good. i've seen almost all of our great country.seen sunsets & sunrises everywhere except Montana, Washington state & Key West. the worst drawback is the traffic!well, i always wanted an office with a view - well, the view doesn't get much better! y'all drive safe!
i retired from trucking in February 2024. my right shoulder was about 1/2 shot due to heavy cranking on trailer dollies. besides that, the FMCSA was creating all of their new regulations aimed at drivers with nearly zero experience, with the goal being to progressively allow younger and far less experienced drivers to become TRUCK drivers.
