Ronald's Story
Life
It has been a lot of years. Most of the time it has been great fun. I have lived in many exciting places, traveled to lots of others. My family has been great. Nancy and I celebrated our 28th this year, 2010, and have had a wonderful time together all these years. My oldest daughter, Ginger, received her Master's Degree in Architecture at Texas Tech in 2009. She was married on May 22, 2009 in Yellowstone Park. Her Husband has also just received his Master's in Architecture. They are both working as architects in Newport, RI. Mandy graduated form Rocky Mountain College here in Billings in 2010. She was a geology major. She is currently working for the Montana Bureau of Mines and Geology. They did well with scholarships and cost me very little. That is way cool since I have little with which to help them. Nope, never got rich.
I crammed four years of college into six years at Texas Tech. Also attended TCU and the University of Denver, Iliff School of Theology. I have been a United Methodist pastor since 1981.
Far to much time learning.
We live in Billings, Montana.
I have enjoyed the friendship of many over the years, and look forward to hearing from them again.

e back and accepted a part time interim job at the Cascade, Mt UMC. It is about 60 miles north of Helena at the end of a Mt canyon. Beautiful country. More snow than Billings. Will be here through July 2011. We kept our house in Billings and may move back or take a new assignment.
UPDATE doing another year at Cascade, finish in June 2012. Don't know what comes after that.
Did the second year. Now at Lewistown, MT. Signed up for one year. We are hoping to take a two month trip to Europe next summer. Well it sounds more like retirement than taking another assignment!
UPDATE We did make the trip to Europe. See blog and pictures at ronkapalka.wordpress.com
We had a great time and meet with many exciting people in all our stops. Started in Poland to see my great grandfather's home. Spent two weeks helping friends who work with the Roma (Gypsies) and with government officials. Then on to Budapest, Prague, Vienna, and two weeks in southern England with friends.
On our return we took an assignment to the Glasgow UMC. Last winter was a test of our winter skills. Not as much snow, but very cold temps ranging from 0 to -30 most of January to March. Mosquitoes were our enemy most of the summer. Otherwise we have been having a good time. Will be here through June of 2015 and then will see what retirement is like when we move back to Billings, MT.
