Ronald's Story
Life
Being retired from the military and having a job that allows me plenty of time at home is great. I have ten acres in Loudon TN, and I like to "piddle" by raising a garden, an orchard, chickens, rabbits, and plan to add some sheep and maybe even some beef and dairy cows. My three sons are all grown, but still need attention. Donna stays busy with her hobbies, and friends, and working at the High School and the Rush fitness center. All in All, life is Good!
School
If only I could go back and actually be serious about school. My high school days were bad, I couldn't wait to get out of there. I actually dropped out my Junior year to join the Army.
College
My years at Jackson State Community College were great. Although I was working full time, raising a family, and in the Guard, I felt like I had really applied myself for the first time. Even thogh I never completed My B.S. it opened the door for my full ...Expand for more
time job with the Guard.
Workplace
I believe I have the greatest job in the world. As a Simulation Technician on the Close Combat Tacital Trainer, I still get to train soldiers, and stay up with the military, even though I'm retired. The pay is good and The guys I work with are great.
Military
I have had my ups and downs with the military, but mostly up! I joined in 73 with my cousin and friend Ricky Webb. We served together in the 101st till 75. I got out and joined the Guard in Huntingdon in 77. Went Full time in 84 (AGR) at Huntingdon, TN. Ive trained with the 509th PIR at Ft Chaffee, recruited in West Tennessee, and served as the Regimental Tank Master Gunner for the 278th ACR, and as 1sg for HHT, 1/278th, but my most memorable time was with the guys at Huntingdon as the training NCO and master gunner, those guys were like my family and I will always feel that my time there was the best years of my life.
