Ronda's Story

Life My Spouse Mike Barnhurst, my first love and just a wonderful husband My Pets No personal pets. My "Kids" son James and two grandsons and two granddaughters. Became a "step-mom" to Mike's children. John is still at home with us, in college at UNLV and a real delight. How blessed can one person be? To have a teenager again is a shot of youth for everyone around him. The married step daughter lives near Nellis AFB and teaches part-time at UNLV in the English Dept. School From Washington Elementary, to JD Smith Elementary - and then they made it into a Jr. High. Thought I would NEVER leave that place. On to Rancho where the best memories were made and the deepest friends were found. Always was in the band, despite hating the uniforms. I still love music, but no longer play anything but CD's. Good student, but learned that life is the real classroom. Application of things learned shows you the real story they can never teach in any classroom. Have had multiple and very diverse careers. I always say that I have had a lot of great adventures, and still have the ability to know who I am and where I came from. My values were fixed a long time ago, and do not waiver. I am the perpetual college drop-out. I guess when I grow up, I will finally complete something. Then again, being retired is really nice and allows me to do the things that are fun without regard to having to "earn" my bread. Avid reader always. It is heavenly to have books surrounding me and people to share their deep meaning with. I love to turn the music on and get my husband to dance with me! My heroes of my youth all turned out to be just illusions. Now I find that the real heroes are those that give to others. Where I have lived: North Las Vegas, Las Vegas, back to NLV and then to LV before retiring and moving to Spokane, WA. In 2007 I moved to Henderson, NV to be with my new spouse! The biggest surprise in my life was that I would reconnect and then marry Mike! Thought that was all history. If I could improve my home, I'd remodel The master bedroom and add on a giant walk in closet. My dream home would be in someplace that is cooler than Nevada, with plenty of water!. I have learned a lot, but mostly the real meaning of unconditional love from my son. I try to give as I rec...Expand for more
eive in life. If I won $100 million, I'd give most of it to charities, then spend the rest on a new home, college trust funds for grandchildren and one whoppin' party at our reunion!. My current age is 62. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be dead or near it. I was so completely foolish. Life begins at 60 and only gets BETTER with age and experience. Careers: Retired, so that is better than any of my careers! What people would say about me: My best friend would tell you I have the best memory of all and I'm funny, but people who don't know me very well would probably describe me as quiet because I don't share with people too many facts. Clothing Styles: Try to stay up wtih the trends that are suitable for a woman of my age. I like classic styles, nothing too fadish for me but I refuse to do beige!! I share my home with two men, which I find funny most of the time! No trophies on my mantle, I have a cookbook I wrote instead. In 10 years, I hope to be ALIVE. I'm going to get there by taking care of bsuiness. My oldest friend is probably Sharon Edmondson whom I have known since kindergarten. She would bring five flavor life savers and share them with me. What a pal, I got all the ones I liked best because she liked the others. Still pals today. We still like opposite things! What about you would surprise everyone at your reunion? The weight loss, the new husband - take your pick. My first job was at a builders main office (Heers-Roder) where I got paid 85 dollars a week to be a loan processor. What I remember most about it is they thought I was in college! I was between my junior and senior year in HS and they were SHOCKED. They had asked me to be a notary and I had to tell them that I was not old enough and in fact didn't even have a driver's license! I always wanted to be a architect when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a great idea but my drafting teacher thought it was a DUMB idea. As it turns out, he was wrong. I could have done it, and been able to raise a family, contrary to what Mr File said at the time. The wildest thing I ever did in school was participate in the great auto caper where we put Mr. Arenez little Nash Metropolitan cross ways on the senior steps. A dumb move on my part, but fun none the less!
