Ronnie's Story
Favorite high school memory: If I could relive one day in high school, it would definitely be GRADUATION DAY! I couldn't wait to finish school to experience traveling, military, college, and life's adventures. Remember skipping school,"Ring Turning Day", attending student protests, going to parties/concerts, dating, cruising Douglas, and playing coed football with friends at the park. Peace and love. Keep the faith!
Activities I participated in: Participated on Gymnastics Team (Yrs 2 & 3) but out due to sport injuries both years. Involved in boy's physical education and intramural sports. Employed part-time after school. Attended 6 elementary, 4 middle, and 2 high schools due to family relocations. Varsity letter in track running hurdles while attending Mead Jr High.
Awards and achievements: AA - Southwestern College (Southwestern Christian University), BA/BS - Oklahoma City University, MRCP - University of Oklahoma. Member of APA-AICP - American Institute of Certified Planners, Institute of Transportation Engineers, American Society for Public Administration, American Sociological Association, with FEMA-EMI Certificates of Achievement. Received CDIB and tribal voting membership to the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma. Received 25 year certificate and member of the Military Division of Kappa Alpha Order fraternity. Member of professional, veteran, alumni, and various associations.
Goals for the future: Enjoy family, close friends, and...Expand for more
to share a fulfilling and healthy life. Continue to hope for the future and dream of the past. This includes personal development of contributing to intellectual, spiritual, and social welfare of society. Thus, having the serenity to understand and accept things I cannot change.
What I've done since high school: Particpated in the birth and raising of my two children with involvement in various social, academic, and athletical events. Meeting my wife in graduate school and married for 27 plus years. Serving in the United States Marine Corps. Employed in private and public sectors. Retired (semi-retired) from city government as an Urban Planner. Received plaque for grateful appreciation of dedicated service.
Military service: United States Marine Corps.Honorably discharged in 1976 with 2 years active service. Served with infantry battalions: Echo 2/9, 3rd Marine Division, FMF and Lima 3/8, 2nd Marine Division, FMF. Vietnam service and Southeast Asia.
Hobbies & interests: Spending time with family and friends, fishing, watching sports, grillin and chillin, walking the doggies, gardening, reading, hiking, and web surfing. Going to Cocoa Beach, Ron Jon Resort, Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville, Oklahoma, North Carolina, and NASA. Helping son with Boy Scouts of America, American Indian Scouting Association, robotics, and various sports, especially tackle football. Visiting daughter (UCF graduate and RN) and son-in-law with grandson.
