Ronny's Story
Life
Many of you (most) will not remember me. I missed as many days of school as possible without failing (graduated with a 2.0 GPA).
I went into the MI National Guard, during my senior year and in 1974 joined the Army. I went into the Army, because I didn't want to go to school (college). Well, while in the service I went to about 30 different schools, anything from Parachute training, Arabic Language, Sniper, Counter Terrorism, and Special Forces Medical, just to name a few. After 24 years of service and spending time in 17 different countries (most in the Middle East), I retired as a 1SG, in 1996.
After retirement, imagine my surprise when I ended up being hired as the Chair of the Emergency Medical Science Department at a local college and was selected to attend a special Duke-East Carolina University Physician Assistant program. No one that knew me would have thought that I would even go to college, more less teach at one. Being excepted into Duke was also ...Expand for more
a shock.
I currently have an Associates of Applied Science in Emergency Medical Science, a Bachelors of Science in Liberal Studies (depths in Arabic & Allied Health). I completed PA school in 2001 and recieved a Bachelors of Science in Physician Assistant Studies (East Carolina University) and a Masters of Health Science (Duke).
I was married to Suzanne Smith (Class of Â75) for about 7 years, we have a son Christopher and 2 Grandchildren (Nick & Nate). I also have another great son, Frank who was a step-son from my 3rd marriage.
I retired from the Military and continue to live in NC - just outside of Fort Bragg. But, I am currently working for the US Governmet as a Physician Assistant. I have spent most of the last 8 years working in Iraq, Afghnasitan and Pakistan doing my part in fighting the War on Terrorism. I have also spent small amounts of time in other countries (Yemen, Uzbekastan, Maylasia, Spain, Ireland, Jordan and Kuwait).
Good Luck to All, Ronny
