Rose's Story
I currently work at a non-profit organization which helps people with cerebal palsy, spasticity, and developmentally delayed. The other part of organization works with people who have behavioral health and brain illnesses. I am a direct support professional and medication specialist. I studied for my licensed practical nursing in 1984 but Atlaantic Technical school wouldn't let me graduate after I did all the work and got As . I did have anxiety so I was conflicted about fighting them on it. I also made mistake of telling them I was in AA when teacher Ms Couglin questioned me about my anxiety and then they all flipped out and followed me around criticizing everything I did, constantly trying to intimidate m...Expand for more
e- it was a horrible experience. I staying sober but for awhile I had no confidence and just worked as a nurses aide until I had my son in 1989- then I went back to college and got a bachelor's in social work. I met Jaco Pastorius in Oakland Park bring your own bottle bar one night and he, I, another guy and young woman partied all night drinking and doing cocaine. I thought he was a homeless guy til I saw the Grammy award on his huge piano in his modest home that had the electric off for nonpayment. I recently you-tubed him...wow! He really was a genius in jazz music. Living in California now and loving the weather but not the traffic! 38 years of being clean and sober off drugs and alcohol- loving it! ❤️
