Rosemary's Story

I am a fine artist and like to paint portraits, still life, and abstracts in acrylic paint, pastels, watercolor and mixed media. I also like to draw with graphite pencils, charcoal and pastel crayons. I take advantage of classes at a local community college where I draw and paint from live models. I had a show at Cuyahoga Community College at which I showed 20 pieces of my art work. My proudist painting is one of my mother and her cat, called Millie Hines and Teddybear, which is 4'x6' and was taken from a small 2"x2" polaroid of her. It took me 3 years to finish the painting since I used small brushes to paint all of the flowers on the couch on which she is sitting. I am now concentrating on needle work since I developed a back problem over the past three years. I crochet, knit, do needlepoint and embroider. I have been making small animals called Amigurumi and dolls. I also am working on sweaters, hats and scarves. I do this at night in front of the TV so I don't feel like I am wasting time just watching TV. I enjoy been busying with some type of art be it fine or needle work. I am also a Pogo addict and like to play games on the Pogo w...Expand for more
ebsite. I have been doing this for a couple of years now. I have four sons, two of which are married, and one granddaughter. The oldest son lives in North Carolina, so we don't see him and his family very often. The other three sons are in the Cleveland area so we see them frequently. Our family has had a interesting life in that my husband wanted to go over seas to work after we were married. So we spent 2 years in Lima, Peru and I had my first son there. We also spent 6 months traveling in Mexico with 2 of our boys where my husband worked for a mining company. We lived for 20 years in Arizona, and then 5 1/2 in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. We experienced the "77-78" winter when it got to -80o and Lake Superior froze over the first time in 30 years. We have now been in the Cleveland area for 37 years. I taught high school art and English for a year before we went overseas. And then some substitute teaching after moving to Ohio. I guess you could call me the 'professional student' since I have been taking classes for quite a while. I did complete 3 years of Spanish at the college level, but mostly my interest has been in the art field.
