Rosy's Story

Aloha, one and all! We live in Hawaii after years of moving all over the place. Finally, we are settled down. Our kids are all grown up and on their own, we have three granddaughters, several 'adopted' grandchildren, so many nieces and nephews, lots of friends on the Pacific Coast and here in Hawaii. I was so sad when they decided to close then tear down our school, Dupont/Laughbon in Dupont, Washington. It saddens me beyond explanation. I don't have any of the yearbooks, and really miss some of my old buddies from back then. If anyone visiting my story can let me know how to obtain a copy of our yearbooks, or if any of the pic's are posted online some place, would you please let me know? I would appreciate it very much! My husband, my hero, can do anything but is now a plumber/contractor/builder/electrician.... I love nursing, but spent the first part of my adult life working in law firms for the ultra rich, paid a few pennies for working my rear end off, & was always poor, so decided to switch areas of work to medical - wish I would have done it when first out of high school, because it's my real love. I absolutely adore being a registered nurse and taking away pain and discomfort form others. I am not currently working though to take care of my own health. We are very religious, loving, kind and generous to all our family and friends, we love the ocean and the warm beach weather year-round, good food, good music, and appreciate the wonderful acts of love and kindness that others bestow upon us throughout life. YOU ARE NOT FORGOTTEN, believe me! I always wondered how my old school chums fared after we left school and how our lives have all turned out. If you want to update me about your life story, please do! I would appreciate hearing from my old mates and instructors! Aloha for now - may your lives be filled with contentment, love, and good health! Mahalo nui loa ~ Rosy living in the Kealakekua area of the Kona side, Big Island of Hawai'i Flying to Germany for the first time. I was about seven? But the whole event - back in the early 60s it was a BIG deal going on any flight, but international made me feel like a princess for a day. Our mom got us all dressed up, we had our photos taken, the 'stewardess' offered my little brother and me the cute little wing pins to wear, and showed us extraordinary attention. Nope, I'll never forget that experience. I always wanted to be a nurse when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a good idea. As it turns out, they were right!. In the early 60s - getting all dressed up and flying to Germany when our father was transferred. I was 7-ish? The 'stewardess' was so pretty!! I was in awe of the whole experience. She gave my little brother and me extra attention, as well as the wing pins to wear. I was a princess for the whole day! One of my jobs back in the late 70s/early 80s after leaving Denver, Colorado where I had worked as a legal secretary as well as computer operator for the Forest Service (and wear the Woodsy Owl costume for events) was going to work at Avery Label. I think I got paid about $6 an hour? to be a backup receptionist and work as a computer operator. What I remember most about it is how cool it was to dress way up, sit in the humongous lobby there in the main office in Pasadena, meet people from around the nation and occasionally from other countries, but to also answer and manage the large phone system, taking the international calls but especially, being picked to represent the c...Expand for more
ompany at the front desk!. I even had my (phshaw) pictures taken and placed in one of their product catalogs as a real model and paid extra (oh, phshaw!) We were living in Tennessee after our dad got back from the Korean War. We lived in a little, modest home in the country. A neighbor was very wealthy (at least I thought so) had large acreage, a white fenced riding area filled with endless, cool, dark green grass, and a teenage girl who was so kind to me. She asked me if I wanted to ride her horse. I was so excited and honored. She picked me up (I think I was five), and put me on the saddle, then she took the reigns and led the horse with me on it around the beautiful yard she had. Later she took me into their large home, gave me something cool to drink, some cookies, played games with me, then I went home. I don't know who she was but this was in a little town called Harriman. Bless her where she may be! First, I feel angry. Sometimes I cry if I feel a big injustice. Then I watch Spongebob or veg out on old movies. But I wish I would remember to turn to prayer first, instead of after I cool off. Then I could do the other things. But that stupid anger makes me not think the way I want at the time. Oh, well. Always time to learn new tricks. If I'm going to work somewhere, I need to have 'real' breaks, healthy foods, and supportive environment to be able to deal with the day-to-day. Job from the Bible. He lost all his children in one day, suffered a terrible illness for unknown length of time, and lost the support of his own wife. But he never blamed or accused Jehovah God for all the things going wrong. Instead, he blessed Him. I have always wanted to have the same attitude Job had no matter how hard life gets or what it throws at us. The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is Linda Burke, because she was my very best friend as we grew up and it's been over 30 years since we've seen each other.. Spongebob, Old Movies, and American Idol - and The Today Show If I could improve my home, I'd remodel the kitchen and add on a hobby room. My dream home would be already living in Hawai'i and have no other material possession. My children are loving, generous, empathetic towards others, and have little tolerance for bullies and jerks. I love that about them. All of them are hardworking and love their spouses/SOs with loyalty. They have encouraged me when I was down. What more could I hope for in my children? If I won $100 million, I'd give most of it to help others, then spend the rest on a simple, small boat, my kids and our religious organization to help spread the good news from God's word the Bible. My current age is 50. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be in a nursing home. I was so completely naive. I am (was) a registered nurse, the joy of my life. FM has left me mostly in bed, but I want to get better and return to work some day. I would love to be a nursing instructor and public educator in some capacity. My best friend would tell you I'm kind, gentle and funny, but people who don't know me very well would probably describe me as shy, crazy-funny. Hawai'i - shorts and t-shirts, tanks, and Hawai'ian dresses and shifts. No need to worry about a winter wardrobe anymore! I share my home with husband and pets, which I find completely satisfying and secure and content. In 10 years, I hope to be working in the nursing field some way. I'm going to get there by taking care of myself and keeping current with medicine.
