Roxann's Story

It is 2016 and I have had a rough 2 years medically. However, thanks to God I am seeing the best cardiologists in Orlando.I have Chronic Heart Failure. My business has suffered however I will start working my business as soon as the doctors permit. I am house bound mainly except for doctors appointments and occasional dinners out with my husband and my family. I am asking all of you for your prayers. ********************************************************************************************************************************************I started working my Mary Kay business again this past December 2012. I sell skin care, advance color & body products for women & men. If you are interested in purchasing products or want information about starting your own business and work part-time hours and make full-time pay plus you chose when you want to work & who you want to work with. Hope to talk with you soon! Go to my facebook page Roxann Spencer or Rocki Johnson or email me at rspencer at marykay dot com or mkroxie at cfl dot rr dot com In 2012, I was able to get off of all pain medicines, muscle relaxers, depression medicines and everything that was not absolutely necessary. I was able to start driving again and after being bed bound for 10 years and house bound it was so awesome to be able to drive to the grocery store. I am still weak from heart disease and I had a minor stroke this past March but I am attending physical therapy and working those muscles that became weak. Prayers are welcomed for my family & myself, I believe that God answers our prayers. ******************************************************************************************************************************************* My Dad, Vernal Maynard passed away Sunday, Dec 30th, 2012 in his sleep and was laid to rest yesterday, Thursday, January 3, 2013, right next to my Momma. Dad was the best person in our lives. He loved my Momma so much and she loved & respected him. We all loved him and how he treated each of us with love. He was an awesome Dad, Grandfather, Great Grandfather and friend. Dad and Mom are dancing and telling each other how much or mostess they love each other in Heaven. We love you and know you will always be with us. God has important work for You & Mom, to show others what true love is. Thank you for always loving us. God bless, Roxann & Len My sweet Mother, Flora Maynard passed away on November 8, 2012. She was surrounded by all of her children, grandchildren and extended members of our families. We know that God has a special position for her in Heaven, she will be there to welcome the new angels and keep the littlest angels wings straight and make sure they are loved. She loves all of us unconditionally and will always be with us. Mom always told people that we grew up together, she taught me to dance the jitterbug and many other dances. We had a similar fondness to music of all kinds. She is my Best Friend Forever! Love you Mom! A Special Thank You to all of our friends, family members and extended family for loving our Mother.. I feel very fortunate to have learned from the best Mom ever. She taught me to love unconditionally, to treat people like friends we had not met yet and to love those that disliked us cause we never know what their life has been like and we might be the only friend they have, ******************************************************************************************************************************* Our Grand-daughter "Jasmine Alexandra Spencer" turned 5 this year and started kindergarten. She was born March 12th, 2011. Rob, Jasmine & Adriana are all healthy now. Please pray for our family and especially Adriana, Rob & Jasmine. ******************************************************************************************************************************************* Len and I just found out yesterday, 12/15/2010, that we are having a Grand Daughter in April 2011. We are thrilled. We were told that pink was not their color of choice but they were okay with PURPLE, which is my favorite color. I just had to share this information with everyone. Len and I will be grandparents for the first time in April 2011. Our son, Rob & his beautiful wife, Adriana, are expecting our first grandchild. They told us on my birthday, Aug 25, 2010 and it was the best birthday present ever! ************************************************************************************************** "ATTENTION NELSONVILLE YORK HIGH SCHOOL ALUMNI CLASS OF 1976" Many of you have asked why I am listed under your school and especially the Class of 1976, it is because I am a very proud wife of Lenard (Lucky) Spencer, from Murray City, OH. We have lived in Orlando, FL since 1986, Len works for Walt Disney World as a computer systems ride/show technician at The Animal Kingdom. as of Dec 2, 2012, This is his favorite place to work. He worked over 2 years at ESPN Sports Complex on Dec 1, 2012. Len has been fortunate to be able to work at all four Disney Parks down here. We enjoyed the reunion in 2011 and look forward to the next one, Len has to put in vacation requests in January, so for the next reunion in 2016 please send us the date as soon as possible so we can make the necessary arrangements to attend. ************************************************************************************************** SAD NEWS: Our other furry child, Sonic passed away Feb 2014 from kidney disease. Our furry child, Sheba, passed away on 2/2/2010 from cancer. We know that they is waiting for us at the Rainbow Bridge so that we may walk into Heaven together. ************************************************************************************************** UPDATE!!!!!! It is truly awesome that I have found so many classmates from Whitehall Yearling High School & Eastland Joint Vocational Center on here and on face book. Give me a shout! I am listed as Roxann Spencer. (Rocki Johnson). I pray that 2013 will bring peace, love and the return of our soldiers to their families. God Bless! ************************************************************************************************** Hi, This is Roxann (Johnson),(Pedigo), Spencer, I pray that my friends will remember me as fun loving, silly at times, friendly, talkative (got in trouble alot for talking) lol, and always ready for a challenge. I do admit that I had crushes on a few guys while in school, most of them did not even know I was alive. lol I was also a tom-boy and I used to work on cars with my Uncle, Buck Hanning, my Mom's only brother. He taught me the names of the tools he needed while he was under a car and I would get them for him. He taught me how to change tires, change my car's oil, put in a carburetor and how to keep my car running properly so I would not have to rely on a guy. My first job was working with my Mom at Lawson's Dairy Store, where I got paid $1 an hour to "chip" chopped ham on weekends. What I remember most about it is how tired my shoulder and arm would be after a busy weekend. It seemed like they would have chopped ham on sale at least twice a month and for some reason chopped ham tasted better on a sandwich if it was chipped or sliced real thin. Now I can not eat cold cuts at all, even the smell brings back those memories and makes me ill. LOL I have been blessed to work several different jobs both before and after our graduation. I was a lab tech, a phelbotamist, a pharmacy tech, a lab...Expand for more
assistant, a lab assistant intern supervisor, a nurses aide, a medical records tech, a medical records supervisor, a pharmacy tech and pharmacy tech trainer, a theme park call center reservationist, a nanny, a theme park security department secretary, a senior citizen lunch room supervisor, a secretary, an administrative assistant to a Vice President of Marketing, an administrative assistant & trainer for a Customer Service Regional Manager, an office manager, and finally a telecommunications computer programer. I guess you could say that I have done almost every employment position possible. I am originally from The Plains area (near Athens), we moved to Columbus when I was 4. We still have lots of relatives in that area. We moved from Columbus near OSU to Whitehall when I was in 4th grade, Mrs. Byrd's class at Kae Avenue. My Mother, still lives in the same house on Dimson Drive South in Country Club Village. My sisters and brother and Len's siblings all still live in Ohio. My first husband, Phil Pedigo, lived in the Jacksonville, Ohio area, attended Nelsonville York High School and graduated in 1971. My cousin introduced me to Phil, he was her boyfriend's best friend. We were married almost 4 years when he died of heart disease. So I was a widow at age 24. I would not wish that on anyone, friend or foe. Len was introduced to me by one of my girlfriends a few months later. She thought that she was dating him, only she just forgot to tell Len. She did come to the wedding though and brought a nice gift. LOL After our first date Len and I either saw or talked on the phone every day, even if it was for only ten minutes we were in contact. Now, I did not make life easy for Len, LOL, he would say that he thought he loved me and I would draw away and tell him I was not going to get married again or even have a serious relationship. He would get depressed and I would tell him to date someone else, but he still hung around. I eventually talked to my Mom about my feelings for Len - she gave me some great advice. That day I talked to Mom was the same day that Len & I proposed to each other. We were married seven weeks later. Len is truly my Angel that God sent to me. I truly believe that God directs my life all the time, I just have to listen to Him. I have lived in Central Florida since 1987, with my husband, Lenard and our son, Rob. Len graduated in 1976 from Nelsonville York High School in Nelsonville, Ohio and he lived in Murray City, Ohio. We were married in 1979. Len has worked at Walt Disney World since December 1986. I am very proud of him and excited that he was able to work his ultimate dream job. Our pride and joy is our son, Rob. I was told in high school that I was not able to have children. Thankfully God had other plans. Rob was married in October 2006, to his sweetheart, Adriana. They dated for 6 years while going to school. We are very proud of Rob & Adriana, they are great young adults. I became disabled in 2000 due to heart disease, fibromyalgia, diabetes, degenerative arthritis, osteopenia, severe nerve damage in both arms, carpal tunnel disease, osteo-arthritis, diabetic glaucoma, diabetic neuropathy, polymyalgia rheumatica and numerous other related illnesses. I recently found out that I have a hearing deficent. So to all of my friends and relatives that I have asked to repeat what you said to me, it was because I could not hear you, not because I was being a brat. lol. So now I am a woman of leisure, yea right! LOL As far away from leisure as a person can get. All I do is go to various specialists, physical therapy, blood tests, hospital visits and other fun things. LOL My friends in Whitehall and I had lost touch after graduation. I became reunited with Robin Diller-Baker, Christy Drenner-Willey, Kathy Cunningham-Needles, Kathy Hoover-Peters, Judy Allen-King, Sue Beal-Towns, Peggy Craft-Moshier, Connie Honaker and I can not forget Jim & John Hartsell, Eddie Ball, Tom Baker, Steve Nelson, Gary Kendall, and many others that I can not remember at this time. My Mom calls it "Oldtimers Disease". I just think I have alot of friends. We were able to attend our WYHS, Class of 1972, 35th reunion on Aug 25, 2007 (on my birthday). We had a wonderful time reliving memories and looking thru our yearbooks. I even had the nerve to tell my 5th grade crush how much he hurt me when I went away for spring break and when I returned he liked my best friend. I am so happy to announce that I have been able to reunite with my best friend from Children's Hospital, Audrey Titus-Spence. What a blessing to have her back in my life. You don't realize how much friends mean to you until you lose touch with them and then are reunited. I had emergency gastric bypass surgery on Oct 31, 2007. While the surgeon was operating he noticed that my spleen was diseased so it was removed. So now my immunity level is non-existent and I seem to catch every cold, flu and germ out there. In June 2007 I weighed over 300 pounds and today I wear a size 10 and look great according to Len; my sweet husband. He is always telling me how proud of me he is and loves my new look. I was sick most of 2008 and spent more than 6 weeks in the hospital cause of an infection. My doctors are taking me off a lot of medicines and added a bunch of vitamins. I am still pondering regarding which is better! In March 2009 we were able to attend our neices' wedding at Lake Guntersville State Park & Lodge in northern Georgia. Leah is my younger brother, John's daughter. Her husband, Josh, is from Lake Guntersville, so he was very knowledgeable about the area and it was very helpful. Leah & Josh have just welcomed in the Spring of 2010 a new baby boy, The one thing I really want is to be able to drive and get a new car. Its been over 5 years since I have been able to hop in my car and do whatever I wanted or go anywhere I fancied. We were able to come to Whitehall for the All Class Reunion-50th Anniversary of the first graduating class in 1958, on Oct 15 & 16, 2008. I was looking forward to seeing some of our classmates at the picnic, but I guess everyone was working. lol This was the first time that our families had seen me since my weight loss. My Mom did not recognize me until I talked to her then she knew my voice. My husband's Mom told everyone that "Lucky has a new wife". Yes, Len and I have nicknames from our childhood. Len's is "Lucky" and mine of course is "Rocki". Our siblings started calling us those names when they were little. (Len and I are both oldest children.) The worst part is they taught their kids to call us those names. When we call Ohio and say "Hi this is Aunt Roxann." They always ask "who is this??", then I have to say "Aunt Rocki" and then they scream for their parent!!!" I do feel like a new person. My husband is very proud of me, he used to not introduce me to his friends from work when we would see them at the grocery or out for dinner unless I asked their name & introduced myself. Now, he introduces me as soon as they start to talk. I love it! Our son, Rob is always telling me that I am too tiny now, I am his tiny Mommy! I love hearing that from him. I can not wait to be a tiny Grandma in 2011! Now, I have finished my book. Are you tired of reading? Do any of you remember me???? Do you have any fun stories??? Please visit my web page on facebook dot com or the "WYHS dot org" Alumni Page or just email me at rspencer at marykay dot com. God bless, Roxie
