Roxanne's Story
Life
I have 3 adult children. My oldest is my daughter Christina who is 27 and lives in Naples, Florida. She manages an upscale restaurant. My middle child is my only son David who is 23 and is in the U.S. Army currently deployed in the Middle East. My youngest is my daughter Amy who is 19. She currently lives in Auburn, NY and works for Wal-Mart while attending Cayuga College in her Soph. yr. majoring in Graphic Art and Design.
School
I think that my Science teacher, Mrs. McGee was one of the people that inspired me the most along with Mr. Crutchfield.
I always loved band especially during football season.
High school was one of the best parts of my life and I'll always look back at it with fond memories.
College
I did college the hard way. I went in the military after high school and got my education there. After that I went back to college as an adult at the age of 39. I was a single parent of three children and was working full-time. It wasn't easy but it is finally paying off.
Workplace
I spent 4 years in the U.S. Marine Corps. I was stationed in S.C. , Calif., N.C. , and also many foreign countries around the world. Following the end of my enlistment I moved to N.Y. and was employed at a dept. store for 6 yrs. I spent 20 yrs after that working for Corning Inc. in Corning, N.Y. In Oct. of 2007 I relocated from Corning, N.Y. to Rogers, Ar. and I am currently working as a Field Support Tech 1 with the Information Services Division of Wal-Mart Home Office/ Corporate Headquarters in Bentonville, Ar.
Military
I enlisted in the U.S.M.C. just before the end of my senior year. I attended basic training at Parris Island S.C. from Aug. to Oct. 1978. That was the ha...Expand for more
rdest 13 wks. of my entire life.
My next stop was advanced communications and electronics school at 29 Palms Calif. until April of 1979.
From there my journey took me to Camp LeJeune, N.C. From this spot I went on many expeditions which took me half way around the world and back.
I have memories and friendships that I treasure and I'll never forget.
I always wanted to be a engineer when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a good idea idea. As it turns out, they were wrong.
My favorite way to relax is watching tv
The wildest thing I ever did in school was going out to Lake Murray and drinking beer at some bon fire.
If I'm going to work somewhere, I need to have good pay, good benefits, and a stable environment to be able to deal with the day-to-day.
My hero is my dad. He taught me alot about perseverence , responsibility and a good work ethic.
I was born in EauClaire , Wisc but then moved to Whittier Calif. when I was just 6. I only lived there for 4 yrs. then we moved to Ardmore, Okla.
These moves were due to my dad's employment with Uniroyal. I lived in Ardmore until I was 18
The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is Rick Miller, because I'd just like to know how he is doing..
My biggest surprise in life lately is that I moved half way across country and relocated in Arkansas to start a new career with Wal-Mart .
If I won $100 million, I'd give part of it to my kids, then spend the rest on a house, a new car and a vacation .
I share my home with no one, which I find lonely sometimes.
My first job was at Ken-CLiff Bowling Alley, where I got paid not much to work in the restaurant. What I remember most about it is not liking my boss..
