Life Certainly lots of water has flowed over the dams and under the bridges since our Schurz days. While at the time we all scattered in different directions and cared little to keep in touch, now as the years have passed and most of the sand is in the bottom of the hourglass, we long for the old days and desire to rekindle some of the friendships that we once had. Following our days at Schurz, Diane took her nursing training at the Augustana School of Nursing near Lincoln Park. Since I finished Schurz in January of ’58 and Diane in June of ’58, I had a semester jump in my schooling. I began at North Park College, on to Wright Junior College and finished at the Chicago Teachers College. By attending school during summers, I was able to finish a bit earlier and we both graduated in June of ’61. Since that was our first opportunity to get married, we did so on 6/10/61, the weekend before my final exams! Diane began a nursing career at Northwest Hospital and then Norwegian American Hospital. We lived at 6-corners on Cicero and worked for a couple of years while I got a Masters from Loyola downtown at the Water Tower on Michigan Ave. Then in early ’64, I had an opportunity to teach overseas for the US government. We jumped at the opportunity and were assigned to Frankfurt Germany where we remained until retirement, 32 years later in ’96.
