Ruby's Story
Life
I'm 19 years old. Born on the fourth of July. Have 4 sisters and 1 brother. 3rd oldest. Have a 3 year old niece and a 4 month old nephew. No kids of my own (thank God!). Joined the Army Reserves right after high school. Went to Ft. Jackson, S.C. for basic training, then I went to Ft. Belvoir for AIT where I studied to become a 81L- Lithographer (I print maps). And that's were I met my husband. We got married on Oct. 9, 2002.He's named is Chris and he's 20. He's the cutiest white-boy I ever met. I love him a lot and I moved to Texas to be with him. We have our own little apartment and I am very happy!
Military
It was fun. I love getting on the drill sergent's nerves!Had it's ups and downs. It was full of drama, that's for sure! Everybody want's to know your buisness. And the rumors!!! Let's not even go there! I thought I was back in high scho...Expand for more
ol. But that was just among my peers. I have a lot of good memories and pictures to remember for years to come. Also, I had a lot of good instrutors that helped me out. Even when I got dropped (which was a lot!)I learned from my mistakes and had fun while doing it.It really was a good experience for me. I met a lot of intersting people and I love the fact that I got to travel a lot. I don't regret joining. The best part is that I met my husband there.I love him a lot and I'm very happy. Also I like the feeling I get when a child see's me in my uniform and salutes me (even though I'm far from that rank, I just explain to them that I'm not to be saluted). Or when people thank me for being a hero, even though I haven't really done a thing. But, still it makes me feel special and proud to serve my country! And I know that my parents are very proud of me too!
