Russ's Story
Life
I am now divorced...but I am now at a point in my life where I am able to enjoy a lot of my passions!!! I love to travel...cook...play golf...scuba dive...snow ski...amongst many other things. I have recently taken a couple of ski trips to Colorodo and also Lake Tahoe!! I also have an annual pass to Disney...and visit the other parks around here often. Living here is like being on vacation every day of the year!!! I love going to one of the parks for dinner, a few rides, a show, etc....after a long day. Its a rough life...but somebody's got to live it...:))
Life has thrown many "curve balls" my way........but I am very blessed and honored to be where I am now!! Maybe I have finally found my calling...:) I am constantly told that I am "in my element" when training. I now have over 20 years experience in real estate and have trained, coached, and mentored thousands!!! Funny how life sometimes takes you on a journey different than the one you planned...:))
Well...hopefully that catches you up on some of my life. Hard to believe it has been almost 30 years since we graduated from high school!! Wow!!

College
I wasn't exactly sure what I wanted to do coming out of High School....so I attended J. Sargeant Reynolds College for several years while working full-time as a designer for the Highway Dept. I attended mainly nights and Saturdays.
After 5 years with the Highway Dept.....I quit and enrolled in Virginia Commonwealth University for Business Administration and Management. I lived near the college in an area called "the fan" (you locals know the area) and I think I got a little too much into the college "lifestyle"....:) Our house was "the place" it seemed like. We had the pool table, ping pong table, smokehouse in the back yard, lots of "liquids", and always had an open door!!!
I took the real estate school in 1985 as more of a curiosity than anything else....just wanting to learn more about the "investing" side....never imagining that 22 years later I would still be in real estate....much less training others all across North America!!
I am also a "Graduate of the Realtors Institute" and hold the GRI designation. I also hold the "Certified Residential Specialist" designation and more recently obtained the "Real Estate Master" designation. The CRS designation has been awarded to less than 3% of all Realtors nationwide. I have also held an Associate Brokers license for over 20 years in Virginia and Florida.
I guess I have learned a little at each of the schools that I have attended. Now I am sort of using all of the knowledge and skills learned through the years as a real estate trainer. I am now at the place in my life where I am able to give back a little and help teach others what I have learned through the years!!!

I am now a trainer for EXIT Realty International. I do a TV show where I train Realtors all across the United States and Canada!

EXIT Realty even offers a retirement plan (which is very unusual in real estate), medical insurance, life insurance, and residual income. I love going on vacation...and coming home to find a few checks in the mailbox from residuals! I feel very blessed to be able to get paid while laying on a beach somewhere! It's sort of getting paid to play..:)) Its really a win-win for all of the agents. I wish I had found EXIT many years ago...just a slow learner I guess..:)
The show that I do is live each day and also "interactive". They can see me on their TV in each of their EXIT Realty offices...and I have monitors in my studio where I am able to see each of them at all of the sites across North America. They can also talk to me in the studio when they have a question or are called on by me. They just "activate" the microphone in their location and talk! Whenever a microphone is activated in any location...all of the agents in session throughout all of the sites can hear them and the question. They then can add input or ask additional questions. It is really amazing technology!!
We are the only real estate company in the world that has this technology. EXIT Realty really puts an emphasis on training and technology to help our agents learn and be the best they can be!! I am so proud to be a part of EXIT. We have so many wonderful people in the company!!
EXIT is the fastest growing real estate company in history...and I think the training offered is a part of that. Many of the agents say that is why they initially came to EXIT....and then part of why they stay. Too many agents get into the business and still don't really know what to do next! Most real estate schools don't really teach them how to sell real estate and how to be successful.
When I am not in the studio...I travel around doing training in person, speaking, etc...and am also a real estate coach. I love to travel and now get to do some with my career also!
Coming out of school I was a designer for the State of Virginia Highway Dept. for a few years...but didn't like doing the same thing day after day!
I then was a waiter for several years and started initially part-time at nights. I became one of the "top 20" servers in the United States for TGI Fridays Restaurants. I then went into restaurant management and also traveled the United States as a national trainer for Darryl's Restaurants. I guess this was my first taste of being a "trainer" and helping others to do better.
I took the real estate school in 1985 as more of a curiosity than anything else...just wanting to learn more about the "investing" side...never imagining that 22 years later I would still be in real estate...much less training others all across North America! I sold real estate for about 9 years in Virginia...and always enjoyed mentoring other agents.
I got my real estate license for Florida in 1994 and spent a while traveling back and forth. I sold my house...packed all my possessions...and moved to Florida in 1994. I gradually was asked to do more and more training and mentoring through the years...and really enjoyed that side of the business!
I joined EXIT Real Estate Professionals as a full-time trainer and was promoted to Vice President. We grew to become the largest EXIT Realty office in North America in less than 2 years. A VP at EXIT Realty Int'l had heard about what was going on in Orlando...came and observed me...and then offered me a position! That led to where I am now.
