Life I live in Portland now. School Let me see, I entered the Myrtle Point School district in 1966 for first Grade. My first grade teacher was Mr. Miller. Then I went to Spruce School for second grade, that teachers name was Mrs. Smoggie. Not sure on the correct spelling. I can remember, waiting for caticism with Dannie Hanson, we through rocks over the fence and hit a few cars. I told her we shouldn't be doing such a thing, she told me it would be okay. Well, I got the first feel of a paddle. I wan't to make sure I was on my best behavior for then on out, because I didn't care for that pain. Third grade was out in Broadbent, Mrs. Miller was the teacher, I can remember bringing her a red leaf. She told me to throw it down and wash my hands as it poisne ivy. Forth Grade was at Myrtle Crest, Mr. Price was that teacher. Math was my favorite subject back then. For the life of me I can't recall the home room teacher for 5th and 6th. Then came 7th grade. Puberty sits in and our hormones kick up a bit. Some of us go through a stage where we think we are so "Cool". I remember picking a fight with a classmate. And there was the paddle again. But, this one was thicker and had holes in it. Was I ever going to learn. I guess not. For talking in Mr. Craig Johnsons class I got to meet Mr. Paddle with holes again. I was quit a sick guy at the end of my 5th grade year. Or was that 6th. That summer I lost a lot of weight, and thought I was going to die. My eighth grade year. Was good. I wanted so much to be like my older half brother. I mean his running track records were still on the wall in the gym. But, I didn't inherite that gene. Graduation time, I hated life and grade school. I was rebelling and wanted to run and never come back. I was givin a nickname, of which I get called by that classmate 29 years later,lol. I won't say what it is though. Now onto High School. High School had its ups and downs. I failed at US History. Which by the way is one of my favorite subjects to read about now. Science came in second. My favorite though was math. I was so shy in high school. I took speech class, thinking I would come out of my shell. But, I never did.
