Russ's Story
Life
Currently living in Ohio for what seems like forever. After graduation I went to LSU (roomed with Hung Pham, one of our valedictorians). My junior year I joined Air Force ROTC, eventually became the Air Force ROTC commander, and received my commission in the Air Force in 1991.
I then worked as an engineer in Alexandria, LA before going on active duty at WPAFB, in Dayton, OH. While in Dayton, I met my wife, Susan, on a blind date. I had helped a woman while on a business trip and she knew Susan, so a complete stranger hooked me up--lucky for me it worked great. During that time in Dayton I led some very interesting radar simulation and target identification programs for the Air Force and was a Captain when I left in 1996.
After the Air Force, I worked for Procter & Gamble in Cincinnati for 4 years as an engineer and then changed jobs a few times working in Alexandria, LA, Champaign, IL, Columbus, OH, and now back in Dayto...Expand for more
n, OH. Now I work as an engineering manager for Northrop Grumman specializing in Homeland Security, video surveillance, and public safety.
My greatest joy is my three wonderful children, Jennifer (11), Bobby (9), and Emily (8).
I still make it down to Louisiana a couple of times a year to see LSU play football.
Military
I came on active duty in 1992 at the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) at Wright-Patterson AFB, in Dayton, OH. I received my MasterÂs in Electrical Engineering from AFIT in December of 1993 specializing in Electromagnetics and Solid State Device Technology.
After AFIT, I stayed at Wright-Patterson and went to work in the Avionics Directorate of Wright Laboratory as the Deputy Technical Director of the Target Modeling Branch. Most of the work I managed concerned radar modeling and simulation, computer aided design modeling of aircraft, and target recognition. I left the Air Force in 1996 as a Captain.
