Russell's Story
Life
I lived in mesa, arizona until I started high school in 1970.My schools in mesa were I attended were webster elem. and carson jr. high.My best friends in mesa were two people named randy coleman and chris triplett.Randy and I did many things that kids do such as go bike riding and collected STP stickers. We built underground forts with another friend name danny cates.I was sad when we moved but eventually made new friends.I Collected comics until 1991 and now have a nice sizable collection.I love the mountains, hiking, camping, astronomy, archeology, ancient history, theology and love a good debate about organized religions.I also started a paintball team named Aggrevated Assault. That is about as close as I got to doing anything military but hey,It is one hell of a rush to get out there and actually shoot someone and watch that paintball go splat all over someone.Yeah,it hurts a little to be hit as well but it is one fun sport.
School
I went to first grade at rosa lima elementary school but don't remember much except I lived at 318 jones street. Then I moved to 49 n. san jose and went to webster elem. school and finished my sixth grade there.I remember some of my teachers, like mrs.Beulah Hadlock, she gave us a candy bar if we got a certain amount of stars and she was my 4th.grade.Mr Haws was a real jerk and keep most of the class after school to finish there work.I hated him and was 5th grade teacher. Then there was Mr.Porter for six...Expand for more
grade and he was really cool.He let me and Della cluff laugh and didn't get mad at us.Sometimes we would have the whole class laughing.I really liked him. Then on to Carson Jr.high and there I went and finished the 8th.Then we moved to nevada, hated it,and went to basic high for my 9 & 10 grade. For the 11 & 12 I went to Vo-tech and graduated in 1974.Since then I have self taught myself on a variety of subject such as archeology, ancient history, astronomy, physics, and theology.
Workplace
Well once I got out of high school I couldn't find a job in my field of study(tv production)at vo-tech so I took a job at a service station(gas stations today)not very glamorous but it was money.I worked there for a year, learn to work on cars and then got into the hotel business working in the kitchen at the king 8(now called the wild, wild west)as a dishwasher,an even less glamorous job.Worked there 3 yrs 4 months and was a busboy, prep cook and finally a line cook.I did transfer to the bar department and had various duties there but eventually I quit.(walked out actually)I joined the culinary union and landed a job at the LV Hilton as a dish up cook, which was an automatic $5 a day more.Got promoted to fry cook, then broiler and finally to sauce cook.I now work as the pasta chef at Andiamo's which is the italian room and have been there for about 25 years.I guess I should have taken culinary arts. This is now the year of 2005 and I still work at the hilton.
